Crowdfund War of Rails 2015?

After hearing about the cancelation, I can't help but think if there are any alternative ways to keep it alive. What if we created a kickstarter for it? We could have Craig set an amout and try to make this thing happen. I know these things are expensive, but such a unique and meanful event in skiing should be held. Now i know money is tight. Im a broke college kid. But if i can skip Burger King a few times to make WOR happen, then hell I'm going to do it. So who else would be interested?

I aploigize if theres already another thread like this. Posting from my phone so it's not easy to look.

it could be worth a try, but imo it wouldn't get funded. that shit is expensive. I don't understand why nobody took over after underarmour left

Pretty sad. WOR was a great contest. Really enjoyed watching the webcast last year. This is almost as depressing as the Broncos loss today. :-(

Make a donation and your name gets on a wallride. The higher the donation the higher up your name is. Beats doing absolutely nothing. And if Newschoolers takes away a portion of the cost it will be less expensive for sponsors and people

If the community of newschoolers could pull this off by crowd funding the competition it would be one hell of a boost to the sports community. I think it may be a long shot, but definitely worth a try to get this sick comp back up and running.

NS? I wouldn't know exactly but their parent company TEN probably does. That doesn't mean they'd get approval to spend 40k (ua probably put more than that into it) for an event that's in 2 months.

It's a complete disappointment to see this event disintegrate this year. Urban Ski Co was providing sponsorship entries too.

Crowd funding is a smart approach here and the reality is not as far off as I think many assume. Raising the funds can happen within days between any contributing company's, this NS community and the top tier of the athlete community. Of course, there's plenty of challenges and without the experience of organizing such an event it's likely not an easy goal. But, hell, nothing steezy comes eazy.

I think the first step is making contact with Craig. This is his baby, so his support is required. He would need to give the green light and along with a swarming community embracing this it would be worth him at least sleeping on it.

Has anyone made contact with Craig?

Not yet. I was hoping someone had his email. I could e mail him and see if he could set up a kickstarter and link it to me. From there I'll post it on NS and we can all share it.

Ok guys, so here's the deal. Craig first of all would like to thank all of you for the amazing support. He was overwhelmed by all of the amazing feedback you guys gave. Unfortunately, it is too close to the deadline to do it this year. I'm not sure how much I can talk about, but I will say that he informed me of serious talks about next years WOR with companies. His consensus on the whole deal is that this is hopefully a hiccup, and next year will be a go! Look forward to it everyone, thanks for the amazing feedback, and thank you again to Craig for everything you do! Ski on.

At this point, it's less about the $ and more about the time required for a quality production. Per our conversation, Craig seems to have a jump start on turning this around for 2016. It appears to me that W.O.R 2016 will take on a entire new level of rad given the time and continued stream of ideas you guys are flushing out on this thread. Keep the chatter going, because Greg's eyes are on this and he appreciates the interest and is taking it to heart.
