Why does everyone get up so fast?

Everyone takes a spill now and then, but why do people after falling seem to get up as fast as possible? I do it myself, and I still dont understand why in a sport with so much freedom we rush. Any ideas?

It's the same idea as water sports, get up so you notify other that you are ok. It is also respectful to others because you look like a goon lying there in self pity, nobody wants to see that shit man.

I kind of get what op is saying. When I fall I chill for 5-10 seconds before trying to stand up immediately, or just laugh at whatever dumb shit I did. There are obviously places where you definitely shouldn't do this (like in the landing of a huge kicker) but I don't really understand the need to try and make a save if your already going down.

What's the point of getting up slow? You're closing the feature for that time. And it's like the boy who cried wolf, if you stay down after every fall when you do fall and hurt yourself well no one will believe you

Theirs no french fry option on the poll. Get up quick so your out of peoples way. If you fall of the trail then you can stay on the ground till the cows come home.

Barring being under a feature... sometimes its good to take a second, and make sure everything is ok. Wiggle your toes/fingers, move your head, then get up.

I usually sit up laughing which will let everyone know I'm ok. Was out two weeks ago. Got cut off by a snowboarder on a turn, and then cut it real hard into the side of the trail. All splayed out all over the place laughing. I took a few seconds to get up from that one.

In Michigan at the hills down state if you don't get up you get run over but up north you can just slide and lay for the longest time.

We are there to ski not sit on the slopes, like snowboarders do. If I want to sit down and relax I will do that at the lodge. However, if you would like to lay there on the snow after you fall go ahead bro. :-)

i dont, i lay at the end of the rail hold everyone up and just look at the sky for about 30 seconds then get up ride away and calmly state... fuck the stupid rail anyway.

i think op was a little misunderstood here, I what you mean is when you fall, still sliding a little and really make a big effort in order to stand back up, i feel you. I do this all the time, which is fucking stupid (unless you're in crowded slope or on a landing) because if you're doing it, you probably didn't hurt yourself too bad, but I've had my calf and shin bangs get much worse from trying to stand back u when you're backseat as fuck sliding on your ass. I could of just taken a few seconds, get up normally and it would of been fine. Plus it looks like you're trying to hide the fact that you fell, everybody saw it, there's no progression without it so wtf
