How does one make ski friends?

All of my friends that ski are complete gapers. I only ski park when my co-workers are skiing with me but I don't really hang out with them other than that. I need people to ski with on a regular basis. How do you guys make friends to ski with if you didn't have them to begin with?

make small talk on the hill, introduce yourself, play a friendly game of ski in the park. chances are if you have a good attitude and are passionate about skiing you'll have no problem making friends.

Go to park by yourself and find a group of skiers that you'd want to hang out with. Ask them if you can ride with them. Anddd there ya go. Or you could use the regional forums to see if there are any ns'ers in your area. Rail jams and comps at your mountain are also good to go to if you wanna meet people.

If you're in high school or college and your school has a ski club, you could join. There's gotta be at least a few freeskiers in the club.

I live in the midwest. Most people in my town hate the snow and the only good freeskiers are scumbags that I don't want to associate with. Other than that they are either a racer or they suck and I don't want to ski with them. Also I suck at park so I don't go to rail jams. Part of the reason I need friends is to improve in the park.

I think you have too high of expectations of people to ski with. You literally just eliminated every possible type of person you could ski with. Sorry.

Give the freeskiers a chance, how do you know they're scumbags? Most people passing through the park look at me like I'm a piece of shit but they visibly relax and get more comfortable with me when I just approach and talk to them nicely you know? Don't be so judgemental man

Go up to someone you want to ski with, sniff their butt, while wagging yours vigorously and pant loudly with your tongue out. If they get mad, lay on your back with your legs spread and be submissive. That has always worked for me.

It's pretty easy. Just talk to the people around you. You'll get more comfortable the more you do it. Say hello to strangers. Talk to kids on the lift, talk to people while waiting for your drop or taking a break. Join in a hiking sesh with some kids. Ask if you can cruise for a lap or two with people.

I'm used to going to places alone and making friends with strangers so it's pretty easy for me now. Even if you just talk to a few people here and there, if you're hanging out in the park at a mountain all the time you'll meet a bunch of people.

If you smoke, roll up a blunt and ask if anyone wants to take a lap up the chair or have a safety meeting in the woulds. IF you drink bring a couple extra beers and share em.

IF you're sober bring a good attitude and just have fun. Everyone likes chill people having fun.

IF you film, get down with filming some peoples. People love footy.

Feel free to ask for tips from somebody who's killing it or doing a trick you want to try, just bullshit with people.

Most people are friendly out there. There are some douches but a lot of friendly people. Fuck, I've even done laps with noobs to help to teach them how to turn on the normal trials or given people trick tips in the park. I feel like there's a lot of friendliness all around in the park.

Skiing isn't all serious business. Have fun. Talk to people, make friends, shred on.

IF you still can't make friends in a month or so I'll take a trip to your mountain(if it's not super far away) and cruise with you, meet people, and then you can be friends with them.

work at a ski resort. I learned how to ski 2 years ago when I was a gaper and hung out with people who've been skiing their whole life. I skied with them everyday and that's how I got so good so fast.

First line of your post. Talk your friends into skiing more no matter what their ability. The more your friends ski with you the more fun you all will have as they improve and get stronger.

Speak up. When you see someone trying to learn a new trick, help them out with it. Congratulate people when they land something sick. If you watch an edit from your home mountain, and you recognize them on the hill, tell them it was sick or something.

General small talk always works like asking people questions about themselves or what their favorite trick is, everyone's favorite subject is themselves. My best trick to start talking to people is ask them how they like the ski's they are riding, I have found asking that question usually starts off a good conversation about something you and the person you are talking with are both passionate about. Also like many others have said play some in your face or snow, if anything those games will up your game and trick library.

It's what we like to call "Surprise Adoption" Find a small child on the mountain, and Surprise adopt them, train them to be your ski pal. Raise them to be exactly how you want them. Best part is, if they get hurt and can't ski, you can Surprise adopt another!

If you can't find any skiers to be friends with, try to make friends with snowboarders in the park. Im friends with a bunch of boarders and they are sometimes nicer than freeskiers haha... or not but worth the try
