just filed my edges a bit to detune my skis, is it necessary to use a diamond stone to get rid of the burs? if so, where can I get one (closest ski shop is 30 mins away so any other place would be awesome)

Do I need a diamond stone?
If theres a place selling cross country skis they should or else a hunting place to sharpen blades. Walmart even have some
Gummy stones are the best for minor detunes and deburring. Not nearly as aggressive on your edges as a diamond stone/file
