Flat 3 help

Make sure you have them down on tramp, other than that you should be good, just spot your landing. It can be really scary at first, make sure your confident.

Whenever I try one it comes out as a 450. How do you stop the rotation?

last year i got flat 5's down, but i cant figure out how to spin slow enough to put down a 3. It seems like i can either backflip or flat 5.

You could try grabbing japan with your backflip, and slowly starting to lean it over each time

i think im too scared ill under rotate and spinning that slow while inverting. Ill have to get better on tramps and in deep pow. Next up is flat 7's anyways.

It's basically the axis between a backer and a Lincoln right?

A tip I got that helped me when I kept landing at 450 was "throw the tips of you skis up over you shoulder" and it worked. Also grabbing Japan will help

Pretty much, just start doing backies while angling your takeoff a bit, 45' is fairly excessive. Make sure to try and grab japan, and that'll naturally put you in position. The nice thing is you can slowly work at this by starting with backies (assuming they're on lockdown) and then moving towards flat. No need to commit to a foreign axis right away

Like most tricks, flat 3s are about patience. You want to get a good set off the jump and not just rip it around. A lot of people take flat 3 to 5 or to underflip because they drop their left/leading shoulder and head. Its important to keep your shoulders pretty even and your chest open when you set it. Think about doing a 90 into a backflip. Grabbing japan helps, but safety works too. The key with the grab is that it needs to be with your trailing hand. Also, doing a flat 3 off a bigger jump is way easier than a small one. I'm always prone to doing a wackflip or a underflip when I try them off moguls and such.
