New goggle company on kickstarter deft

Worth checking out. New goggle co. called Deft.
coming with fire out the gate at an affordable price and cool designs and graphics.

I'm always into the grass root companies that come out especially when they're from the NW or the Rockies.

Just backed this on kickstarter and wanted to share because:

a. they are and thought people here would be into them
b. interchangable everything on them- lens and strap.
c. I'm a backer but they gotta get to $18k in order to actually get them produced, so i thought i'd spread the word.

you can get 2 pairs of goggles for a little over $100 and the straps etc are interchangable between models

Gotta appreciate this type of innovation from the little guys.

It's nice to see a new company trying out but I don't see what's new. Yes they are cheap which is nice but there are already a lot of other company that offer the same way of customization. The design is nice but the Omega looks like an electric Eg2 which come in much more variation. Still interested to see how this is going to end up.

This company looks sick especially with the idea of the affordable price most goggles with style big spherical lenses cost upward of 200$ my only concern would be quality due to low pricing

Yeah,
i figure I need some new goggles and for $60 bucks ya can't lose. I like the comet but may upgrade to get both pairs, maybe sell one if I don't like 'em.

I just love that we got all these start ups taking on the big boys.

Damn, I want. Boise reppin. I like they are cheap, but they should probably lower their kickstarter price for em. $6 is not a major difference, and not a huge incentive to buy through kickstarter when they are gonna be about the same price later on.

Deft's Comet is a blatant copy of Aura Optics' Nimbus goggle. I have a pair of the Nimbus's and even the tab to release the lens is the exact same.

I remember Aura Optics getting ripped apart on kickstarter because somebody found the exact goggles on sale for half the price from some shitty chinese wholesale site. This company is doing the exact same thing. Surprisingly, Aura raised almost 30k, and i dont doubt that "Deft" will too. Thats exactly why theyre doing it. They're making a basic goggle design that many other companies have used because people will want it more. The difference here is its cheaper and customizable. I like the design, and also the fact that it doesnt look too far off from other popular goggles.

As a company You still gotta buy in bulk, ya still got the design aspects That went into it. I bought a "$15" shirt from one of these made in China sites and after freight and customs that thing ended up costing me $55. So not everything is what it seems. haha but I still got that $55 shirt. haha.

Almost all goggles are made overseas today. What's not made over there. So, that's not a hangup for me. How many goggle companies are making stuff in the US that anyone can afford today?

Buying in bulk isn't the point. Obviously there are lots of prominent eyewear companies whose products are produced in asia. We get that. What sucks is when someone is building a "brand" based on top of work someone else has already done, and claiming it as their own. Slapping your logo on something that's already had the R&D done, been brought to market, etc is kind of shady, in my opinion.

I was just about to make a thread about these guys, good thing I searched but I think these are super nice. I'm really considering getting some for such a good price. You can't go wrong with $89 for frame, strap, and two lenses.

Taking an already existing Chinese product and adding on straps with 3 different basic designs that were also made in China and charging people 4x's what they're worth under the guise of being a small start up is beyond being unoriginal. By definition, this is a scam. They have, what? a 60-70% profit margin on each goggle they sell just because they slapped their logo on it? Yeah, so legit.

The point of my message was that maybe(not saying they are but maybe :D)oakley is doing the same as kickstarters(by adding their logo to chinese stuff).

Almost everything is made in china, and usually brand is what makes them expensive. I have oakley and spy goggles but inspired by this thread I ordered cheap copozz goggles from ebay for a try :D

you want to buy a pair? I'm in Boise too and have a pair I never wear cause I don't really like the goggles so I'd sell them for like 20 bucks
