Snowboarded today for the first time...

I love skiing, have been a skiier for like 9 years, and consider myself quite good at it, but there is still a lot of progression i have to do to get better at the sport. But latley I've found progressing very painfull, been pusing so hard to try to progess that my body is practically broken. So today kind of as a break i thought i would try snowboarding for the first time, and to my surprise i kind of liked it. it was really a nice break from skiing and often almost killing myself. Has anyone else tried snowboarding a little just as a break from skiing and trying to progress so hard? I think im going to do it a little more, don't get me wrong i still love skiing more and will do it forever, but learning something new as a break from skiing is a nice change.

ive done it...it didnt interest me at all. I didnt find it fun at all either..After about waisting half my day i changed back to skiing

I did what the guy who started this thread did, i consider myself a hard core skier, even though i'm not that great, i bought a snowboard and used it 2 times last year for about half a day each. But whatever you want to do is cool by me

i snowboard but i occasionally ski for a day here and there. since i learned to ski when i was 3, i sucked. then i tried snowboarding and i didnt suck. i think skiing is much harder and snowboarding is more fun for me, but i got the same respect for skiers and riders. do whatever makes u happy

when my local hill was all icy me and my friend who has been snowboarding for years switched are equipment up, i found snowboarding really easy, i could carve and do some basic rails after about 6 runs, funny thing is my friend is buying a pair of twintips next season because he finds skiing more fun

I think most of you probably dont give snowboarding a chance. you dont like it because Im sure you suck, any one would suck after only one day, where as skiing your already good. Ive tried it and liked it, but stuck to skiing because I already was good and only need to be doing one snow sport, because I cant afford another.

yeah...no funds here either.I tried it and did 360s the first day, but I don't like it as much as skiing...simple as that

I've tried snowboarding a few times. personally i find it really easy but more difficult to go fast making it less fun that skiing. the times I've tried ive switched skis for snowboard with some of my boarder buds and ive gotten 2 of them to switch over entirely just from their first experience and seeing how progressive skiing has become. they tell me 'dude there are so many boarders who are good but not so for skiers (parkwise). girls really like that shit you do when you grind on skis, one told me she found it 'exotic'. one got himself a pair of rossi scratches and the other some old mavericks and these were dudes who were already pretty good at snowboarding.

Yeah I bought a board and boots for 60 bucks at a garage sale 4 years ago and I board every once in a while usually when its super icy and its fun, I just think as long as I'm gunna slam snow boarders I better be able to do it and back what I say up

snowboarding is great, its easy and relaxing and u can look like a fricken pro with little practice, skiing is for people wanting to be challenged and enjoy the mtn not just to be cool

i have tried it too and its quite fun and easy to pick up. i was carving on both edges right away. nice lil change from skiing.

I snowboarded last year and loved it, but this year I decided to try twin tips. I love twintips even more than snowboarding now. But If I didn't ski I would snowboard(I'm sure alot of newschoolers would to).

there is a similar post in nsg. i have skiied for 13 years and snowboarded for 11. its fun to swith it up everyonce and again. the feeling of carving on a board is much different than skiing but i would much rather be skiing than boarding 99 times out of 100.

What? Are you crazy? Snowboarders can go just as fast as skis. People cant go fast on boards because they dont ride on the edge of the board, they just kinda slide it, slowing you down and making it so you cant turn.

i used to do both but for one session i only snowboared bc i had shity skis and didint wana use them so i just snowboarded but i learnd alot from snwbaoding like flars and stuff and how to spin it realy helped me with my skiing

i think its just who you are, for instance my cousin first time on a snowboard first run was throwing back flips, other kids never get the hang of it.

I've been skiing since I was three and about 6 years ago I tried snowboarding, becuase at this time twin tips were rarely heard of and snowboarding was what everyone was doing. I hated snowboarding I found it so frustrating to sit down and have to strap myself in every time that I got off the lift, which was also a huge chore. All I can say is that if it makes you happy go with it. Don't ski becuase everyone on newschoolers says skiing is the end all be all of the mountain. Just do what you enjoy, and enjoy doing it.

about pushin it too hard, last year was my first year in the park (9th season skiing) and i spent most of my time on rails, but then on the last day of the season i hit the jumps and got my 3s and 5s. yesterday since i was hitting it all solid on tuesday i was throwin 3s and 5s, and i went corked and landed on my face twice, my face is shredded up and i have a concussion. but i'ma be back out by sunday...
