So my friends and I instead of just going to the beach and partying for a week want to take a month long road trip next year. We're beginning planning this now and there's some factors I'm not sure on. Is it possible to rent a Van to travel for around a month? What kinds of foods do you pack because I'd assume most people on a road trip don't eat out every night. And again we've just begun planning this so we aren't far in at all, so any tips or anything will be appreciated since we're all pretty unexperienced with this. The big part it finding a van or something big enough for us that we can rent.
louie.miragsyes with the right amount of your parents money you can rent a van as long as you'd like
hahaha we're saving up for the next year though so were figuring out cost, and since we're splitting it thats going to help also. No money from parents.
Make a list of EVERYTHING you're going to need for the trip, a long time before you actually go.
Make sure you have PLENTY,PLENTY of room in the car you're taking.
How many people are going? You can rent big SUV's and MiniVans from like enterprises at airports. Probably gonna cost a pretty penny for how long you're gonna rent it for. I'd see if you guys could get your hands on a friend's mini van or something like that.
Gas is probably gonna be your biggest expense aside from renting out a car. So make sure you do the math and figure out how much the trip is gonna cost soon. Where you're gonna stay, what you're gonna eat. How much extra driving around you guys are gonna do.
Me and my buddies are tripping to HOOD in may, and we figured it's gonna cost around 1500 per person for our trip. So just do the math for everything and set it up there.
Stay away from name brand foods, buy generic foods for everything.
That's all i can think of right now..i just got back from a road trip with buddies around CNY and we were stuck in his ford fusion. 4 people + 3 duffel bags, 4 sleeping bags in the car for 11 hours yesterday was NOT FUN. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR EVERYTHING.
Start up a list man:
Gas most important. Factor in gas and always round up with expenses so your not surprised.
Sights. Pick some places you want to stop and enjoy everything on the way.
Food. Easy and cheap stuff like trail mix, fruit, yadda yadda yadda.
I drove from VA to UT when I moved. It didn't take a month and I was by myself. I just got high the whole way and jammed out.
I'm planning on driving from CT down to Florida in the next month to go diving. just finished up my masters and taking a road trip has always been something I've wanted to do. if it goes through I'll post up what I put together. don't plan on bringing much, snacks, waters, dive gear, few changes of clothes. could probably just sleep in my truck. think I'll just goin solo down there.
and if anyone is on the east coast and wants to snag a few beers, I have no plans or timetable. can't work until end of October due to licensing so fuck it.
make some meth and sell some of it. that will give you money for gas and vehicle repairs. then find some tweaker with no cash, and get him to steal a car for you in return for a teenth or so. smoke the rest of it, eliminating the need for food and sleep. just think about how much more efficient and cost effective your travels would be.
For road trips I strongly advise you to get a Renault Espace 3.5 V6.
From the outside it might look like a boring European soccer mom's children, labradoodle and IKEA Billy carrier with friendly and inoffensive boxy styling.
But from the inside you will have access to the most stain, child, teenage and chav proof interior ever made, a celebration of man-made materials that will last a 100 years. And best off all it can be rearranged to virtually any setup imaginable. For example a poker setup, with a centre table.
Or something that resembles the Human Centipede:
But why you ask?
Well because this French squishy piece of dough has a Japanese hart, the 3,5 V6 is straight from the Nissan 350Z apart from a few limiters, remove those, add some mild tuning and you have the Starship Enterprise of road trip cars. Inconceivable 250km/h speed with enough wind noise to permanently deafen you. Sub 7 seconds to a 100 and enough place for at least 6 bros.
SnowshoeThompsonrent a uhaul?
all of the best trips i've gone on have consisted of almost no planning. Once you start making an agenda everything goes to shit.

I can't be the only one who read that in the voice of Jeremy Clarkson
