Replying to Powder Trip. Do I need more skis?

xnickGT:
Here's the situation.

I'm going skiing in Japan for 2 weeks over Christmas and not sure if my current ski's will hold up to the powder out there. I'm assuming it won't be too deep as it's early season but can't be sure. My level of skiing is intermediate - advanced but haven't had much experience skiing powder.

My current ski's are 179 K2 Kung Fujas. I've not had an opportunity to get into the fluffy stuff with them so don't know how they'll perform. Anyone have any experiences taking these off piste? If so do you think they'll be sufficient for Japan?

If not... What would you recommend? I want something that would be playful but still able to hit small cliffs up to 20 ft. Most of the skiing I'll do will be within tree's and chilled powder fields. I'm 6ft and 160lbs.

I've heard good things about the JJs and can get an ex demo set with Tyrolia 13 bindings for £250. What do you think? I also like the look of the Mr Opus but don't know much about them.

Keen to get your thoughts. Cheers.
