A little piece of history

Inspired by the foundation of Armada Skis. here is a photo of the first group of people that started Armada Skis. from right to left... Phil Belanger, JP Auclair, Eric Iberg, Boyd Easley, Chris O'Connell, Julien Regnier, and Phil Larose.

this was the group that set the idea of Armada in motion 2 years before the company existed.

Dynastar finally gave them the credit they deserved, money they deserved and individual pro models. the opportunity with Armada finally gave them the proper opportunity with Dynastar.

Cool, never knew they had a role in Armada. I do remember they all had their own "pro model" trouble makers shortly after this though.

Pretty cool picture. I remember some of those old Armada commercials that came on dvds (war maybe).

Really would like to know more history. Newschoolers should have a article series "pioneers of freeskiing" or something. Would be dope.

yea i was just starting to really get into skiing around that time so i don't really remember specifically who was an original 'founder,' just that a bunch of my favorite skiers at the time broke-off and started doing their own thing...

wikipedia says tanner founded armada with jp and chris o'connell, but its not cited. pretty hilarious wiki on tanner though, "he is known to type in all capitalised letters in lieu of a more traditional use of the English language" hahahaha

Photo was September 2001. it was just a meeting of the minds to kick things off after the Royalty premier in Quebec City.

It is really awesome to see how young the game changers in our sport were. ages of guys in the photo

When this photo was taken Tanner Hall was 17 and JF Cusson was i think 23. They both join on in the next year like Voltron to co-found Armada Skis which officially became a company Oct. 2002. Then was launched to the public in fall of 2003.

Excited to see the next young group of game changers in freestyle that will take it over to inspired the world!

i owe those guys so much.
i remember watching those fools ski (especially belanger) it changed my life for the better.
i wouldnt have travelled the world to ski and met half of my friends if it werent for those guys.

I was a freshman at Uvm in fall of 2001. There was a crew of us hitting handrails on campus and the police had no idea what we were doing. They used to call in other police to come watch us ski. Oh the world was a simpler time then...
