Many of the contaminated water tanks have a lifespan of five years. A Fukushima operator said that they may have to dump contaminated water into the Pacific.

I would have hoped they would have come to the conclusion that water for cooling the reactors did NOT outweigh the fact that a tsunami could crush the plant. They could have pumped the water inland to protect the reactors.

I think that we should just never use nuclear power and just go greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen. Stick with water power only. Wheels in the rivers.

If we avoid leaking radioactive waste everywhere like the damn Asians then Nuclear power is an extremely environmentally friendly practice.


And ya we are fuct, I live near the coast of WA and a lot of people are pretty upset about the lack of care/notice. Something pretty fucked is that in the waters off the coast of Alaska and WA the govt is basically ignoring the radiation that came over and refuses to test the water, so there have been civilian groups formed that are testing the water for radiation and reporting it.

I'm pretty sure the reactors were using are fission reactors, which splits the atoms to make power. Fusion reactors squish the atoms together or something to that effect. I haven't read anything about it lately but apparently it produces significantly more power. I think its still unproven though.

India and china are trying to develop reactors that use a different fuel called thorium, Apparently it can't run out of control and produces less waste.
