I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

.nastyThere's always that guy who claims dropper posts are useless, or telling us all about how his 26" 20 year old bike is "just fine and why would I get a new one?".

And then there’s the rich ones who have 12,000$ bikes and only ride twice a year. I hate them

Lol I think "overbikers" are hilarious especially when the first thing out of their mouth at the end of a trail is excuses why they cant go as fast as they usually are. I love telling people at the top of a trail that they can go in front of me because they look fast or their bike looks fast and then chopping them like minute into the trail. 180mm enduro bikes on XC flow trails are hilarious

clindblomskierCodes are awesome, I'd keep them on and switch if you don't like them.


cydwhitDepends on if the rear brake is internally routed or not. If it is, don't worry about it, see how you like Codes. If it's not, it's an easy swap and you may as well do it, and flip the Codes while they're brand new. That's what I would do at least.

I need to get around to doing a lever swap, gonna throw some Guide Ultimate levers on my Code calipers, get all that adjustability, and power. And if I still don't love them, I'll switch back to Shimano in the fall.


I wish I liked them since they’re new but damn, I’m really not a fan. I think I’m just too used to the early bite on the Shimanos!

Honestly for the price it looks like a pretty capable bike. But at the end of the day you gotta ask yourself will it satisfy your needs? This bike I could see as a commuter bike, cross country, or simple flow trails. If you ever want to venture to some other place with gnarlier trails this is probably not your best bet. I know there's a bunch of great full sus trail bikes on pinkbike in the same price range. So basically imma tell you what I tell every 12yo on here that asks "what ski" and say its all based on what you see yourself doing.

It seems like a decent bike, nothing special though and geometry is more on the XC side of things, but that may be exactly what you want. You should also check out the Salsa Timeberjack or if you aren't dead set on buying from a brick and mortar shop, the Commencal Meta HT (very much more downhill focused), Nukeproof Scout Race, or anything from Ragley (available on Chainreactioncycles) could be considered.

Or if you are a little more mechanically inclined and willing to gamble a bit, buying used could be an option as well.

Anyone Need a drivetrain? I have a full GX Eagle Drivetrain with about 7 rides on it for sale. I also have a full X01 Eagle Drivetrain with carbon cranks for sale as well.

Shifter, Cassette, Derailleur, Crankset, Chainring, and Bottom Bracket. I also have a brand new X01 Eagle Chain. You can also mix and match with X01 parts I have as well.

It worked. Was just so much more annoying than it should have been.

Basically, you should be able to move levers and calipers around without messing with the hose. EXCEPT sram made it so the little rubber gromet that covers the junction between the line and the lever won't fit over the compression bolt. And that rubber fitting is a different shape on Guides and Codes. So, instead of just swapping levers, bleeding them, and partying on, you have to cut off the olive and barb from the end of the hose, pull the compression bolt and rubber boot off, swap to the other line that you also had to cut, and then re-install a new barb and olive. So you get to shorten your brake lines, track down a bunch of new fittings, and then do way more work, all the while getting super toxic DOT fluid all over everything. So much more hassle than it should be. Just make it so the rubber boot can fit over the compression bolt!

The bleed was the easiest part of the whole process, I'd forgotten how nice and straightforward SRAM lever bleeds are.

Yeah, the guides are annoying. From my experience Codes just seem to function better.

I'm gonna be installing new sram brakes here pretty soon and I'm dreading the internal routing and hose shortening part. I've only ever bled sram brakes without their new bleeding edge thingy and never did a very good job at it.

UTAH folks
Selling my bike to fund a purchase of a Transition Scout and feel the magic of 27.5in wheels. This rig took me from a total jerry to being obsessed with riding. Hope it can do the same for someone else. It's a 9 year old frame but literally every part other than the front brake has been updated mostly in the past 3 years. I have it listed at $900 but would love to drop that a bit for someone on this site.

Anyone ever buy an off brand sram bleed kit? Not willing to pay $60+ for the real one.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this, I'm willing to risk leaky syringes because the worst that can happen is a less than ideal bleed, but I'm wondering whether there's any risk of long term damage from something like bad DOT fluid.

Anyone have any advice?

Just got the G2 RSC and I'm so excited to install them. Not stoked for internal cable routing however.

I ordered the Vitus Sentier 29 VR a couple days ago and today they told me they actually don’t have it in stock, so my order was cancelled. I’m a bit bummed on that but I’m thinking about just going for the Commencal Meta HT AM Ride 29 now
