May- the depressing month

With the season over in the northern hemisphere, the month has been filled with season edits of many different types of skiing. Sitting here watching them be so much better than me hurts. They probably have about 5x as much skiing time as me, and have better facilities (e.g. a mountain)but i cannot stop the pain. the truth is i could be that good, but im not. i try to click on the one's with less votes to cheer myself up but even they are far beyond my level. Does anyone feel me?

u get better with practice man dont worry about it, also some people are more fortunate to be able to ski at better hills. its life. if it really bothers u that much just go out and make a summer jib for practice and save up all summer and go on a baller ski trip next winter. cheers to may being a shit month though

No, I don't feel you at all. Skiing has never been about being the best for me.

Basically, this is how your life will go, thare is always gonna be someone better than you, no matter what you do. So learn to deal with it, and don't be so negative about something that is supposed to make you happy.

Deal with it. Location has been a significant factor forever but the $$$ is def starting to add into it. If you're parents can get coaching for you and send you to camp for 2 or 3 weeks in the summer and whatever else it's going to help you. That said there are still a ton of hungry kids out there killing it just as hard without that $.

If you want it, you have talent, and you work for it you can get good.

Build a ballin summer settup. Instead of being depressed watching edits of people that are better than you, learn from them. There's a reason the level of skiing is in another world than 15 years ago. It's not because people are growing up with magical powers. People grow up seeing whats been done and they know that something is possible.

You might see an edit and think, wow that's fucking nuts. Instead of getting down go learn it. Build a summer setup, ski with better kids at your mountain in the winter.

Maybe try and get a job at one of the summer camps. Maybe go to the southern hemisphere for the off season one year.

Don't forget to have fun though. If you're having fun, skiing with friends and trying new tricks you'll get better.

Good advice right here.

In 5 years youll look back and suprise yourself how much youve progressed. The more you love skiing the less you're concerned with what everyone else is doing around you.

Try bmx, if you got a bike then your all good man. It takes away the pain from not skiing and it reminds me of it. If you get good and or have a trampoline or you have a friend with a trampoline that also helps.

yeah thanks guys you made some good points. the thread kind of came out wrong. it was meant to be a 1st person narrative of what a lot of us feel in may, with all the season edits, rather than me just complaining. i live in nz and its snowing im just nowhere near it haha

I dont do skiing to be better than others, i do it for the fun times with friends. progression is pretty much a bonus. enjoy what you have and dont dwell on what you need

I feel you I live in little Edinboro PA skiing at mount pleasant a resort with 5 trails, 2 boxes, 1 rail, and only for half the season there's a jump bigger than 5 feet and they only put a lip on it for the competition. So yeah basically google it and close to nothing comes up. But yeah I already built a bitchin summer set up and hope to get way better. My advice: get a tramp and build a summer set up

Fuck it man may sucks but you ski for the love of skiing and it doesnt matter how shitty you are or how shitty your mountain might be just do it cause you love it and if you do it to be the best than you have your priorities messed the fuck up.
