Best material for tramp skis

I have been trying to make tramp skis for a while now and the materials never work in my favor. I want something light and loose that isn't going to kill me if I eat shit with them on. Any ideas on what is the best material? or even better a place where you can buy them for cheap?

cut a pool noodle in half the long way and tape a pair of old slippers to them
