theabortionatorIt's puking snow up there. Straight blizzrd moe. Just finished working up on the rail jam setup. Going to get everything dug out and dialed tomorrow.
Come kick it for the rail jam even if you don't wanna shred. Shred some pow and watch some people throw down on some grind bars
I'll come watch, queues are probably going to be hectic so I'd rather chill and watch some people throw down.
I would say gidday but I don't really want to rock up to a bunch of park crew and ask which one is The Abortionator, haha.

I'm taller than everyone else, have tie dyed snowboard boards. Also I'm american so obvious toting pistols the whole time I'm working because Murica loves guns and stuff.
Could ask which stranger in the green jackets is Rusty.
JosephRikysYo what's the format and whatnot for the jam? Or will info be released tomorrow? Never done a rail jam before.
For the actual jam we're working with the events crew but it's jam format. Not 100% sure on times and what not but basically everything is side by side and and you hit something, go into the wallride or hitchin' post and then hike back up and hit something else. Take as many runs as you want. Runs aren't really scored as much as the judges tally who's doing what and then figure out the places based on who's killing it.
So it's basically a sesh of people just killing it on a setup getting down together, pushing each other and then everythings tallied in the background and places figured out. It's fun though and the setup is real sick
Everything is in now. Didn't really have time or visibility to take any good pics but shits looking proper. Tested the cannon today and the gap isn't bad at all
Any chance of a step-up in the bank at the end of the jump line - kinda up onto the flat at the top of Yahoo? There was one a few seasons back and it was definitely a cool feature. Didn't have a gap, basically just a nice wide kicker cut into the face.

Look forward to seeing the slopestyle setup.
Not at the moment. I can't say the final say but I'm feling it's unlikely. I heard about that and it sounds sweet but I think we're going to keep the park going to skiers left around the bend and then merging up above the lifts like it has been.
Sweet as. It was just a really good feature for learning tricks on because the vert killed all your horizontal speed, so if you arsed it you just fell in a heap instead of having a yardsale.
How much say do you guys get in the overall design of the park?
I remember a few seasons ago the jumps were all built super short (at least the medium/large line was), asked a patroller about it and he said it was a safety-driven thing because gapers are more likely to write themselves off on the knuckle of a longer jump versus people who can actually ride park sending it to the flat.
Pretty good kind of compromise on what we want to make everyone happy. But thsts standard. I got to build the tube features i wanted and got my garage cuttout in the rail jam settup so im happy. The jumps will be pretty big honestly. I like step ups but that spot kind of fucks with the flow of the upper trail
The main park is riding real nice. Got a small park called rollercoaster over past the alley right now thats great for learning shit. 2 boxes into 3 15-20' jumps or 4 10-15' jumps in a row.
Also the alley is going to be out rail park, started putting stuff in yesterday. Going to have a shotgun down rail, up flat shotgun, donkey tube with up box in onto the front, and flat up flat with the dub kink. A street entry shotgun flat is going at the where the donkey was and the flat box is getting replace by a longer wider flat box.
That mai park is dialed right now. Jumps aren't huge but you get enough air to throw some decent tricks comfortably, middle jump especially. A few dub attempts yesterday some 9s. Real good flow
It was on today! Took 3 runs and scorches snowbird on fresh cords around 10:30 and after. Then went out to the glacier went out to solitude, and dropped a whole bunch of weird shit in between. So much sick shit that wasn't getting tracked out at all. The glacier was getting blasted but the snow had legit depth and held it's own even on the steep spots. Great day
rozboonSaturday was so much fun, love Turoa in the spring. Short queues, soft snow, good weather... what more could you want?
Saw someone got seriously written off in the park though, bugger.
Yeah that was no good. I think she was alright. As alright as you could be after that. Fuck the people that almost ran into her and patrol to hit the rainbow or cannon.
Yeah it's pretty obnoxious to hit any features around a spot where patrol is loading up a banana boat... while that was going down we were just hitting the first kicker then cutting out.
I was having a shitty time getting my speed dialled on the jump line... I felt way too slow on them every time but always ended up going deep. Didn't take too many laps of the park though, lots of slush to shred elsewhere on the hill.
Kinda suck I'm missing out on the slushy goodness due to injury. Gonna be riding snowboard tomorrow to give me something to do until my knee is good enough to do more than cruise on skis.
Awesome final weekend for me, some of the best riding all season... snow was just right, little top-up on Friday night was nice, 99% of the people were fully chilled out, such a good time to be up there.
Shame about that utter penis dad who kept taking his swarm of like 9 kids through the main park and snaking everyone. Happens sometimes I guess.
Park was on point. The kickers were probably the best shaped I've ever seen them up there, super floaty, props to the park crew.

'til next season I guess.
Feel free to tell those people to fuck off. Its easier when you dont work there. It used to be easy butbnow everyone goes and biches to customer dervice and starts a chaon reacfion shitstorm because somebody swore at them. We can tell them tobfuck off in other words but it loses its effect.

yeah I saw that giant asshole snaking past all the boxes then cutting off the side to get to lower freeway with his midget army.
but really the snow was so good. perfect temps. jumps were so good, as usual.
Don't know if anyone still reads this thread, but anyway..
hiked up too the top of the noon today, been waiting for the right weather since the end of the season. Was very rewarding, soooo much new snow and epic slush down low. pic to show how much snow there was:

How far down could you ski?
Nice man, did it again on Sunday, could ski down too just below the snowflake, really awesome skiing. Still some real fun rollers where the park was. hoping to get a few more hikes in before we lose it all :(

I might be hiking up this weekend! Just depends on the weather
theabortionatorSent out an application. Might be back there this year. Not the only application I'm sending out though. We'll see what happens.
Nice bro, hopefully you make it back to this sick mountain(can see it out the window right now, pretty sad snow situation atm).
I applied for park crew aswell.

Word, I think adamholl did as well. I sent some out to the south island, aussie, and the states so Idk what I'm doing but figured Id throw one back in at turoa and maybe have that as an option again. Had a good time there.
theabortionatorDon't think I'm going back. A couple jobs I'm down with leaning toward one but if I dont get that might just head back east and build and sell rails.
Sucks you're not coming back man but good luck with your job. hopefully park crew can keep it up this year.
