OutKasts first concert in 8 years and the crowd isn't even hyped and they cut off Killer Mike for the whole world, I'm bummed out by the crowd and lack of enthusiasm, but really stoked to see OutKast kill it.
Well given the fact that most people at Chella were 10-12 when Outkast last performed, Im not surprised they didn't give a fuck. Myself on the other hand, would have loved the shit out of that show. If the sound wasnt shit like everyone is saying.
theabortionatorBecause people there probably don't even know who they are. Nothing to do with if it was good.
yeah that probably was a big factor, but i also heard that andre was just not into it. it's one of their first (if not their first) performance in a really long time. anyway, i probably know more anti flag than outkast, and i'll admit that i'd be one of the jabronis waiting around to hear them play roses and hey ya
appai'm sort of stoked that everyone thinks outkast was underwhelming. now i can see anti-flag and not feel bad about missing the reunion.
Was anti-flag at cochella or saying you're seeing them else where? Because I'm with you on this. I was the right age but never got into outkast. Was too busy listening to punk in my youth

Anti-flag is closing a smaller stage at relatively the same time as OutKast.
I never actually remember a time when outkast was that big. Like they had the one about the polaroid picture and mrs jackson, but I don't understand the fuss about their reunion.
As much as I was stoked to be able to watch their set (youtube cuz im in ohio) it kinda seemed like Outkast wasnt super hyped to be there. I thought they did a pretty good job quality wise but me and my housemates were a little taken back cuz it seemed like they didnt bring in a whole lot of enthusiasm or energy to the performance. I felt like they could have brought a little more.
(Also in regards to other comments maybe the crowd did bring them down but from youtube I couldnt really tell that aspect)
As someone who was up front for the show I'll say this. First performing in the cube was sick, for like 2 songs. They needed to fill up the stage better. Secondly its the bands job to hype the crowd, not the other way around. the crowd started off pumped, but about the time andre did his solo stuff, it sucked. and when future came on, it killed it. Plus they were having sound issues the entire time after starting 30 minutes late. They were my least favorite performance of the entire weekend
Went to the Outkast show, it was pretty good, certainly wasn't the best performance I saw while I was there.
As well, Pharrel and Kid Cudi were much better.
Major emphasis in Pharrel, all his guests just made the whole entire Saturday night.

Did you see Nas? I watched his set on YouTube and it was amazing.
Isn´t Coachella the event were every attendee is a female celebrity trying to dress like a carefree hippy girl and fails miserably in the process because they are trying far too hard?

Outkast was one of the best Hip-Hop/R&B artists of our time. Whether you believe so or not, from a critical standpoint its true.

The only Cudi song I like is Beez with RZA, not a fan otherwise
they played a 27 song set. I feel like thats bound to get a little boring for the average fan. If they did 15 songs i feel like people would have come away with a much better vibe. The whole future thing was way out of place too.
I was watching Flosstradamus' set live and Dillion Francis and Skrillex both showed up on stage when the played Dillion Francis' Get Low, and all of them were trying to get the crowd to get down on the ground for a solid 30 seconds and like half the crowd was still standing.
It was sorta annoying to watch. The people that were there dont give two fucks about the artists and who they are. All they care about is wearing their new neon colored rave clothes that they just got and taking a bunch of drugs.
I cant find the video unfortunately But Its right around 36:45. Ive never done a soundcloud embed with the new forums so sorry if I screw this up...

If you want a good crowd go to T in the Park, or for that matter almost any British festival it seems.
bo0bDid you see Nas? I watched his set on YouTube and it was amazing.
I made it to his last few songs. I went to Muse instead, since that was a band on my top list to see, I heard NAS had an amazing show though.
ShortyI've heard that Coachella crowds usually stink.
Yes and no. Like already said, many people might not really care for the music, and just want to be there for the sake of being there. Then there are other people (like me in some cases) that have that band they must see, and pretty much cancel every plan in that time area to make sure that you have a good spot to see them.
Now I didn't see all of Outkast, since I was at The Knife (best performance in a viewing sense), so I never did get bored of their full show.
I doubt that british fests are that great. A lot of mainstream wankery over there. That said I would have liked to go maybe once.
And I think I would fucking hate the crowds of the last few years at coachella. I like music festivals not fashion shows. Is there still great music at coachella? of course, but the lineups have dipped off hard the last few years. I mean I guess if you go for EDM like most people it's worth it but whatever.
People wonder why people hate on the edm scene. Even if they didn't hate the music, a bunch of naive little fashionista's dancing around a field on bathsalts rebelling against their parents.
Not to take the hipster route but once that genre got mainstream it all went to hell. Seeing all these idiot college kids with their neon molly shirts.

They aren't bad. I barely noticed them. It's not like it's a bunch of 16 year old girls all up in your face with glowsticks from head to cooch.
Plus with the way Coachella is set up (for the most part) bands/singes/songwriters and all those people that play rock, folk, and rap in all the variations are on the first 3-4 stages. The other stages (generally located in the back of the Fest) along with the DoLab have the electronic scene.
So there's nothing ever to worry about.
Plus with everything that is going on like music, friends, art, free Popsicles (greatest thing ever), and the weather; the last thing you'd want to worry about is crowds.
Only time crowds were annoying was at a concert. Cause there's just people. But that's the nature of a festival.
Everyone is going to be there, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Obscure underground pretentious shit must be listened to in small-scale dreary industrial looking clubs.
fuck that all i wanna do is go to outlook in croatia, you know where the djs actually don't suck, like say at a place like shambhala...one of these years
250rfuck that all i wanna do is go to outlook in croatia, you know where the djs actually don't suck, like say at a place like shambhala...one of these years
i was in the sahara tent a lot last weekend and the wasted white girls get real fucking annoying after a while, and like it was said up there most of the people there couldn't give two fucks about the DJs, and to prove my point i had a group of girls who were convinced that RL Grime was Diplo
Seems like most people I'm this thread have zero idea what it's actually like there. The crowds don't suck, the rave artists just suck at getting the crowd pumped. After arcade fires set, the crowd continued singing for another 10 minutes together. Most of the horribly dressed people stay on the goni tent the entire time and don't leave. They essentially have their own little festival going on and should never be considered representative of the whole festival. Most people their are dressed how anyone would dress in California in 95 degree weather. You rarely see a celebrity at coachella because most of them are behind the walls or in the VIP areas. As with most media, the bad news is what most people hear, not the good news. The crowds tend to be lots of people who are there to have fun and listen to good music, and most people dress normally and just want to beat the heat.
I've been to a few festivals and made to coachella last year... coachella compared to the others is so much hotter, sunnier, and dryer than the others I've been too. All the people I've meet were similarly into the music, but the weather is just a killer by the end of the day. So late at night, they prb don't stink, there just tired as fuck
Fuck that crowd. First song, dre asked "are you even alive"
I felt bad for Andre, man. His parents died recently and he has stage fright so to have this happen during their first performance must have been horrible

Again, outkast just sucked at getting the crowd into it. They were awkward on stage and started late. Do you really think that 90000 people just all decided to not be excited for one of the most anticipated concerts for the year?

I felt Friday in whole struggled with getting the crowd into a whole lot, especially during the day of course. Wasn't as busy as the actual weekend either.
I mean, people were still into it, with the parties and the dancing and the what not mind you.
But it didn't seem massively "open"
