Ski hill employee jerks

So a guy that is staff on my hill is probably one of the meanest people i've ever met in my life, He complete disregards anything you say in defense when he yells at you, he abuses his power and acts as if he owns the hill and threatens people by removal of pass for some of the most stupid things, even one of the managers at the hill tells people to not listen to him for almost anything he says, He should be fired or something.. Does anyone else have troubles with bad staff?

The rangers at my mountain are the biggest assholes i have ever met. Give someone a yellow jacket and a walkie talkie and they think they're an FBI agent. Ex. telling you to put your bar down when you can see the lift unload within 100 ft of you, yelling at kids for riding through the park without helmets (mandatory at my mountain) while they ride through without one, hitting sides of the lips onto rails and standing in landings while preaching safety, one ranger tried to basically have me arrested after he saw me drinking a beer on the lift, they really love to fuck us up

This lifty asked to see my pass every time I came down. He was a douche about it and called the maintenance guys who are also like security on us because we did show him. It was a cold day and I keep my pass in my wallet bc ive had them fall off before. He is just a souche all around

I had this same problem. Can't use lanyards because once you get going over 30mph that shit flaps in your face. Tried clipping it onto my jacket and the wind would eventually win and claim the pass and it was a $20 replacement fee. Started just carrying it in my pocket, but that gets really annoying taking it out for scans every run.

My solution was to just make friends with the lifties and scanners, chat with them, bring them a candy bar or a red bull now and then and now they never ask to scan me anymore. I have a costco case of reeses (only ~$15) in my trunk and I just hand that shit out all the time, makes you really popular really quickly.

They closed the singles line while the entire lift line was full, I 'opened' it and a guy came out of the lift house who was supposed to man the singles line and to go to the back of the line.

Mountain High, CA has RFID chips in their passes, so there is no need for human scanners. You just ski up to a turnstile, it automatically detects your pass (even if it's under 10 layers of clothing) and the gates open. So easy. I don't understand why a lot more mountains don't have this technology.

There is one lifty everyone calls the ticket nazi at timberline. NEVER lets you go through without scanning and makes people frequently take off goggles/facemask to verify that they are the owner of the season pass. dude has no problem making the entire lift line pissed at him for slowing things down.

some people hate that they work where they play so I can see why they are miserable. not justified but I get it.

cooks take the most shit tho. people act like assholes when it comes to food. True story, old guy didn't like how his hot dog turned out so instead of asking for a new one, he just tossed it back at the cook like a real smug prick

I kinda disregard them. We have more good dudes than bad. Rich homie Daryl who operates the park lift and swings the chairs is one of the chilliest dudes I know. The guy has the best mullet I've ever seen.

Did he explain why he needs to check your pass every time or did you even ask for a explanation of why it needed to be checked every time?

Ticket checkers are of course paid to make sure you paid to ski but are also there to make sure you still have your legal contract on you. All of those tiny ass words on the back are a liability statement and if you don't have the contract on you and you get hurt you can sue the shit out of the mountain.

pretty much did the same thing. Except I ski at a shit hill in the Midwest so the lifty guys are pretty much highschoolers except for a few. I just pretty much yelled at them and and made them my bitches so its chyll

Resort I work at, lifties get $50 for every fake/borrowed pass they find. When you're making minimum wage, $50 is a nice chuck of change. I know of one guy, caught 7 passes in one weekend. Damn near doubles you're paycheck.

i understand what you mean but it was a slow day and our hill is tiny (~400 vert) so he checked it once and i felt it was alil overkill to check it more than once and most of the lifties know who i am since im always there and pretty friendly to them all but this guy seemed like he was intentionally trying to be a douche

I heard one of grouse mountains notoriously terrible mountain safety officers used to hide behind slow signs with a radar gun and yell at people for going over 5kmph.

Grouse didnt actually appoint him with the radar gun or anything, he just brought it on his own and did it all himself. I never met him but a lot of old grouse locals have some pretty crazy tales with him.

Grouse mountian safety likes to put slow signs beside side hits and hide behind the signs, only to jump out and say you almost hit them and clip your pass. sometimes ill ride by and there will be a pack of 3-4 ms hiding behind a slow sign near the landing of a jump. Theres really endless ways to get your pass clipped at grouse.

At my mountain we know all the lifties, and they're all super chill. They never scan our passes either. It's pretty sweet. We always have snowball fights with them in the spring too.

Whenever the lift guy bumps the chair I'll say thanks and he just doesn't respond. The next run he will just stand there and stare at you while the chair lift passes.

Just run away next time you see him, lodge a group complaint, run a staff boycott, blow on his face next time he yells, do a pantsing prank on him if he's wearing sweatpants, ask for a new job.. the possibilities are really endless... get creative or get out...

once a ticket checker took my pole away from me because the basket fell off and wouldn't give it back when i started yelling at him he threatened to pull my pass... he never gave me my pole back
