I can't see being involved with a family and a career all while being a recreational opiate user working out that well, which means if you may want to quit you will become an emotional cripple and end up in a ditch somewhere. I'm willing to bet that at the age of forty, recreational opiate users are going to be wake up and realize all they have in life is drugs and will still end up in a ditch somewhere.

No. Using opiates for long periods of time and then stopping them will lead to a permanent deficiency in certain neurotransmitter activity. Continued use will maintain levels closer to a sober person who has never done opiates

Chronic users of any drug, will eventually fry the dendrites of the neuron. And once those are damage you can't repair them, chronic depression also happens in ecstasy recovering addicts, and they will never get better. However, I wouldn't say you should constantly do drugs for the rest of your life to fix the balance. there are serious health implications to that, and just because you give your receptors that feeling of pleasure that definitely doesn't make you into a sober person.

No I don't ever look in the mirror and say I'm close minded because I'm fairly open minded. Mommy never told me drugs are bad because mommy grew up in the sixties and has seen and experimented with more drugs than you have. What has told me too stay away from drugs was meeting too many burnt out druggies through work. Most of them wished someone would have told them to lay off the drugs back when if they knew life was going to turn out the way it had. Ive also had many friends over the years get hooked on cocain, most of them turned into arrogant pricks and have lost their jobs/homes/famillies. Give it another five to ten years kid, you will see.

Then why would morphine, for example, a chemical that is actually produced, BY YOUR OWN FUCKING BODY, that results in the increase in a plethora of other neurotransmitter levels, effect the user negatively while high, and not lead to stabilizing levels over time due to down regulation of receptors combined with continued use of the drug?
Your and others asking for a source may make you feel scholarly and intellectual, but it really means youre fucking clueless regarding a subject i studied at princeton. No different from asking a physics major for a source when he tells you black holes exist.
If i ever do bullshit, ill let you know, although it will still likely be more truthful then whatever misunderstood concepts your inferior brain has put together from reading material that is far beyond your conceptual ability.

Well, its been almost a decade since i started. But ill let you know when my habit that keeps me happy and clear headed everyday and doesnt strain my means gets to me.

You know why you only hear about the addicts who fuck there lives up?
Its the same reason that on worlds worst police chases they dont show you the thousands of videos where they get away from the cops.

What you are referring to by the word "fry" is down regulation. The neurons react to the overload of a certain neurotransmitter by reducing the number of receptors in order to regain normal neurotransmission levels. You it is reversible via up regulation of receptors when the nt levels are normal (sober) but afaik not completely reversible.
Whatever autistic drug counselor told you the shit about "frying your dendrites) either was dumbing it down for you or is an absolute jackass who should be working at mcdonalds

ssri have little to nothing to do with how morphine works kiddo. and yes, even the best scientists are asked for their sources. Open some journals like Science or the lancet, you will surely see sources rather than the remark "i studied at Princeton" at the end of every article

I understand what happens and I understand the neuron becomes desensitized, there's absolutely no reason for me to go to a giant scientific ran at 2 AM I just explained how it worked for people on ns reading it, and it was correct. All it does is it desensitizes the neuron so you
can never get that feeling of pleasure on your own, without the drug. Just because you feel pleasure again that doesn't make you sober. Just because an alcoholic drinks to avoid a cumulative hangover he is not "sober". He seemed to be forgetting when you do heroin or meth or any other kind of drug or other side effects. Also nice avoidance of my points in the post.

Oh hey jackass. Ssri's are chemicals that block the reuptake of serotonin, leading to more of it floating around in the synapse. Endorphins and opiates inhibit the release of GABA, which itself inhibits the release of dopamine, so the end result is more dopamine in the synapse. Cocaine blocks the reuptake of dopamine so it its actions are more streamlined to those of SSRI's but all 3 are simply different chemical pathways leading to changes in synaptic neurotransmitter levels.

The reason I hear about addicts that have fucked up their lives is because I have met them and heard their shitty stories first hand, no media involvement. I've witnessed their inability to complete simple tasks on their own, it's almost funny.

In stat you find correlations like that all the time. Its not that far out. German culture is extremely extremely tolerant and i believe this is a sign the germans want to give that they have moved on, effectively.

as for legalizing all drugs, if tens of millions of americans smoke cigs daily and can't quit or don't care despite the health effect, what makes you think that legalizing something like heroin and meth, which can kill quick, then making it available to the mass population would ever be a good idea?

Ignoring anything spss says, decriminalizing all drug make sense though. If somebody does get addicted to drugs they shouldn't be labeled criminals and do jail time. That obviously doesn't work.

Definitely with weed, but I don't think that even belongs in this conversation. I also have a few friends who are completely functional high as fuck on coke, arrogant assholes but functional assholes. The amount they can drink and party and drive around after pissed out of their minds amazes me, almost makes me want to try it haha.............. just once though.
