Go Pro Help - "this file is not a movie"

Anyone know what that error message in the file means? Is it not possible to retrieve that file for whatever reason? "this file is not a movie"

Long story short I was out skiing some lines around my area in al the snow we got a few weeks back and my gopro fell off my helmet. Got lost while it was still on and just found it when the snow melted. Still works fine but the file isn't working. Anyone have any suggestions?

M&A, and you need to give us some more information. What procedure are you taking on your computer to get this error message?

On a macbook pro, took out the sd card from the camera and plugged it into my computer. I tried opening the file and it keeps coming up with "this file is not a movie" even though the file is in mp4 format.

I did some research and it might be corrupt and need to be repaired through some programs you can download. But I also have kind of an old macbook and havent been updated in forever so maybe it just can't play on an older version? Not really to sure

Have you tried opening the file in a different program? Quicktime blows.
