Using Ski.com became a true disappointment to my family and me when we were getting ready to go on our vacation trip to Colorado. Two days before our flight, the city of Atlanta got slammed with a snowstorm! Delta cancelled all the flights, and we were able to get a full refund on our flight - which is normally considered a "no refund" ticket. I did not expect to receive a full refund for our rather expensive trip from Ski.com, but I did expect that since the reason for our cancelled trip was nothing we could control, we would be able to change the date of our trip or they would at the very least give us a percentage of our money back. It seems nothing is more important to Ski.com than taking your money. I cannot and would not recommend using Ski.com for any trip because they have shown no compassion and even refuse to acknowledge an uncontrollable act of nature.

What costs were associated with your trip that you did not get back, you said you got your flights refunded... so the hotel and a shuttle ride from the airport? The hotels blocked off the rooms for you, turning away other guests. Why would you think you could get your money back? You need to purchase travel insurance in the future if you want that level of protection.

My parents run ski.com. I've been begging to go to windelss for the last few years. My dad has said we couldn't afford it especially this year and shot down every one of my pleas up until a couple weeks ago. A few days after that storm he said "You still wanna go to ski camp" I was like OMG OMG YEAH!


I guess that money really came in handy. Sorry your ski trip didn't work out but look at it as paying it forward to a kid that really wanted to go to camp. I'll hit some grindrails for you!

You buy the plane ticket and just rent a small hotel room or house near the mountain for the selected days...you just show up and buy the tickets at the mountain.

Guys I know most of you are young and have parents to book trips for you but a you get older you will start booking ski vacations. The experience of the op is usefull and should help others here who may have considered skis.com. I don't see why ns has to act like a bunch of dicks when a thread is not about what colour full tilts are the best or who afterbangs the best.

I hear you, my trip to Vail, Colorado was terrible. Let me explain to you why I will not be returning to this resort anytime in the near future and will indicate to other families on online forums that they should decline to come to Vail as well.

As you are aware, marijuana is now legal in Colorado. I have been visiting Vail and Beaver Creek for many years now with my family, and enjoyed all my years here with no real problems. We have a lot of memories here. Within the span of several days, my son and I were exposed to numerous conversations on buses, gondola rides and restaurants related to recreational drug use. The fact that people are restricted to smoking pot in the privacy of their room doesn’t mean that they won’t reek of pot on gondola rides, or that they won’t be talking about getting high with numerous other substances within earshot of numerous families. Within the span of two to three days, I had at least three to four separate occasions in public areas where I had to specifically ask people to not talk about their drug use. People were obviously put off by my asking them to stop, and I was furious to even be put in this situation.

I think the public debate on allowing pot to be sold is completely off. The people who live this type of lifestyle can’t afford to support resorts like Vail that frankly cater to a demographic more like my own, and candidly, you don’t get to be successful by engaging in this type of lifestyle. Why am I going to pay to come to a resort where my son is exposed to these sorts of things? I don’t want him skiing or going anywhere on his own — he is a teenager, and why should he be shaped by these types of conversations?

Not only this, but it’s a safety hazard. Do you think I want people speeding by me on the slopes who were high the evening before?

I really recommend you get this situation under control as quickly as possible because word will get out to families very quickly. At this point, I’m very much inclined to go to Utah for my vacations instead of Colorado. You can’t be a destination resort for high-earners and a pot-town at the same time — you have to choose.

Your saying is so ignorant, listen to me: Many people here, even in this thread I am sure, smoke weed on a regular base and are just fine, even good skiers (so am I not to brag around).
And it's everyone's right to talk about whatever the hell they want to, don't listen or ignore it if you think this is wrong.
You certainly have no clue about skiing combined with Marijuana. Like dude, I've been hitting 60ft jumps in the backcountry, skied with a pro (whos name I am not gonna say), hell even the photographer smoked a good ol' spliff with us. And guess what, we are all fine, had a good time and skied on a relatively high level. High in two senses, you feelin me?

So please don't associate assholes on the slope not automatically with stoners/Marijuana-loving skiers.
There is a difference.

so you purchased a non refundable trip or the cancellation policies outlined had expired and your mad because you you couldn't get your money back? I manage a hotel, i have fucking pricks book online only non refundable rates ( discounted because THEY ARNT FUCKIN REFUNDABLE ) and kick scream , yell , cry ( seriously ) beg and everything in between to cancel or modify. Buy some fucking travel insurance next time you cunt. End rant
