JD.Nevermind that^
I decided on the Kartels
JD.So since they aren't symmetric I should go 1 or 2 cm back? I was thinking 1 but I'm not really that knowledgeable in different mounts.
JD.??
BWalmerIt's a lot of personal preference, so it's hard to answer. For example, I would center mount them at 70/30, others would go -2. Where do you normally mount your all mountain skis?
JD.Well I usually ski mostly park so I figured I would get a ski that could ski the park any day but I'd take it all over somedays too. Basically I've only had symmetric park skis, so I'm actually thinking about going with the Filthy's again for that reason. I've always mounted center, but I know if they aren't symmetric you shouldn't mount them there.
JD.^ Oh and also I'm wondering if I should even go for the Kartel? Should I get Filthy Riches instead since I'm mainly in the park? Then I would obviously just mount them center.
BWalmerKartels will be fine (unless you want a narrow park ski), and center will be good on them. If you're mostly going to use them in the park you'll want the even swing weight, and they'll still crush it all over the mountain.
JD.Ok so Kartels it is. Ok so is that true center or core center or is there no difference? Anyways, thanks for the help.
BWalmerThere is a difference between true and core on these skis. I'm planning on putting mine at true for mostly park.

*cgski*I know they are last years skis, but does anyone have an info on mounting the caylor? The recommended looks pretty far forward, maybe its just me who knows. Want to have them mounted so they float pretty well yet can still get funky
BWalmerTrust the recommended.
Remember, the Caylor is more like a freestyle powder ski, so they're set a bit more forward than a standard ski.
division.bellIf I mount my 191 Jeffrey 122's
BWalmerIf? Do you plan on just hanging them on the wall? Cause that is justifiable, but still seems silly, haha.
division.bellI honestly am not sure what I'm going to do with them yet.
I need to thin out my quiver a bit to make some room, so something's going to have to give. Just not sure what.
Mr.PenguinI've mounted every pair of On3p's at the recommended line and have yet to regret it. Maybe one of the dudes from On3p can give you a technical explanation as to why, but I second the "trust the recommended line."
momentzIf by thinning your quiver, you mean selling your skis to me, I'm down.

Brule.Shouts out to Sports Page for becoming an ON3P dealer this winter. I got a pair of Filthy Riches from them, so I'm stoked on that. I almost got Kartel 98's but the smallest size they had was 181, which is a tad too big for me.
JD.For real. I was so pumped when I found out they had them. Yeah, the 181's are also a tad big for me at 5'9" but I have at least another inch in me and possibly 2 (I'm speculating judging by that doctor thingy) so I decided to just do it. I actually almost ended up with the Filthy's.
Brule.Yeah. The Filthy Rich's seemed lighter to me compared to the Kartel's. Plus with the advantage of a light ski, I was able to get some FKS 120's for the skis, too.

J.D.^I always think you're me and get freaked out. "WTF? When did I post in that thread?"

brotoThe weight of the ski should have little impact on the dins of your bindings
DeRizzoI'm fine with 12 din bindings right? I was tempted to go up to 14 because of the heavier ski. You got me worried hahaha
PowPiratei might pick up a pair of 191 billy goats but does anyone know what size fks brakes will best fit them? do i just get the 130mm or do i get the 115mm and try bend them out?
iggyskierEither will work, but when within a few mm, I prefer to go smaller and tweak them out slightly. I think we've been able to get a 110 on a BG to work out with a bit of effort.

LiteratureFor the record,
The reason that there's a recommended mount line is that line goes with the sidecut. On a Kartel 98 in a 181, the deepest part of the sidecut reaches the line on your boot at -4cm from true center.
Obviously, people do whatever they want in terms of mounting. For example: Karl rides his Kartels -1cm from true center.

jcaDefinitely the 115s, you can probably get em to fit with just shaving off a bit of plastic on the inside edge of the break. you only really need 2 or 3mm on each side.
