A way to stay in touch with your Rail Game in the Summer?

I live in Maine and we only have snow around here November-Late April. Over the last few summers I've been improving or at least keeping up my rail game by using carpet skates on pvc rails. It works really well and it's fairly cheap and easy, but I'm wondering if there are any other ideas out there. I've heard a lot about rollerblading, but not really sure what to do about it.

If you have any tips or ideas let me hear it, it would be cool to get a thread on a bunch of ways to stay in the jib of things without needing snow or spending a ton of money.

What would you use for the slope? I've heard about turf but that gets expensive if you're making a big inrun

Cheapest ways are to scavenge from construction sites. All you really need is a drop in that is maybe 6 to 7 feet tall and some pvc pipes for rails. For the drop in you can just use carpet with that orange snow fencing on top and it slides really well for super cheap.

There are some really in depth threads about this already that Ill try to find quickly.

Just start right when the snow melts. Buy and build a bit at a time, go on craigslist for scrap wood that you could use like 2x4s and pallets, the turf isn't that much and sometimes hotels and stuff throw stuff like that away that you could use, or even better keep your eye out on NS and craigslist for already made pvc rails people might be giving away or in my case an entire setup. I live in MA and someone in CT was giving one away so they are out there. Build a setup it's your best option

I think that skateboarding really helped me this past summer. It improves your balance and works muscles that you use when you're skiing

Use corgated vinyl. Cheap and you can bulk up on it. You can use it as either an in run or a box. I do not recommend using it as a box though.

Do you have any funny crashes you could make into a gif? I saw this one where a guy hit a back country jump and landed face first in pow and just stopped, it was hilarious.

This has kept me occupied for 3 summers now. And it's more skiing than you could ever handle, I usually have to call it after an hour of jibbing.

It's mSnow, but it's awfully expensive. www.m-snow.com I bought a ton of it when they had a half price sale that they'll probably never have again. It's a shame because it's really not affordable at full retail price.

You can build inruns with indoor carpet/turf or even horizontal pvc rungs if you're crafty. Those are both much cheaper options. msnow is much faster than turf. pvc rungs are pretty fast but they're not the easiest to build and maintain.

I have an 8 foot flat bar in my bed. Trying to get good as fast as possible. I figure spooning a rail at night makes rails in the park more friendly to me.

Building a backyard setup is a great way to keep in touch with your rail game. But if that isn't gonna work for you then getting some blades is a great option. K2 fatty pros are a solid skate, pretty inexpensive too.

I found a 6 foot by 8 foot roll of turf at home depot for $20. Cut it into two 8 by 3 strips. The wood for the drop in is more expensive, but hit up some construction sites for free scrap wood.

It was a long shot but I searched for culverts and pvc pipe on Craigslist. I found a local guy who was selling a 12" diameter 20 foot long pvc pipe and he delivered it to my house on a trailer. I paid $175, a bit much for it cause I had been searching for awhile and he delivered it to me

I heard of people using this shit on their slopes just to slide right,
also you live in maine, so I'm sure there would be some hockey rinks nearby to shovel and shit right?

Same here! I'm also doing some rail game, rollerskates or roller blades too. They really are helpful though! Also a backyard setup is nice but make sure that your setting are durable to avoid injuries.

I paid ~100$ for it during their first spring sale. I think it's worth it. It will easily last me until I have no desire to ski in the summer, several years from now

if you don't have the time to build a set up you can buy / borrow a pair of inline skates. if you don't know what that is well basically it's rollerblades with only two wheels and a space underneath the foot to do rails. combine that with a good trampoline and you're set.

the soul plates(what you grind on) on those are so small, and you will have to buy anti-rocker wheels if you want to grind rails. get some rollerblade swindler skates http://www.aggressivemall.com/Rollerblade-Swindler-Skate-p/rb-skate-swindler.htm they have a good sized soul plate, and already come with an anti rocker set-up so you don't have to buy anything extra, and its only a few more dollars than the cost of K2 fattys with the extra stuff you have to buy.
