Kids parents ever bitched you out on the hill?

Me and a few buddies were skiin a really flat road back to the lift, and see a snowboarder taking up the whole track doin wide ass turns, we come up on her and say "on your left" she then turns around, catches her edge and eats shit hard. So we stop asking if she's okay and the dad comes up and ask what happend and the girl says we box her in! So he threatens to break our skis over our heads, so we leave and what not. We then get to the top of the lift where the dad and patrollers are sittin at the top and the patrollers ask us what happend, and the ski patroller knew these guys were some gapers and the was obviously lieing. Patroller told the guy he couldn't do much, so the dad and the little girl threaten to sue and they leave. Interesting expeierence.

Any parents every bitched you out before?

Last year when I was at Stevens, some kid and his dad overheard me talking about my summer job, which is working at MHSSC. He then proceeded to bitch at me because "the coaches wouldn't let my son learn a back flip." I pretty much just said sorry and dipped, because that's some bullshit.

They shouldn't be yelled at for being in park imo because getting some straight airs really does help with racing. & A lot of freeskiers were racers in the beginning too so fucking fight me on it

Twice yesterday, first I was just practicing back 2's out of a mellow round down rail, and while spinning out I noticed a kid in the corner of my eye and had to swerve to avoid her, she pizza'd and slipped out. I asked she was okay and she seemed totally fine, she asked how I could hit rails on skis or something silly, and her mom came in screaming that I'd almost decapitated her. I explained that she shouldn't take a kid learning to ski in the terrain park etc. Not fun. Another time there was some guy doing the whole dad cam thing on the lip of a jump, who refused to move no matter how much people yelled.

I was filming in the park and this gaper dad goes off every single lip coming toward me at the bottom of the mountain full speed in my direction. he knows i see him and he still comes cruisin on towards me. he does his little pizza and slows down since he has to merge trails where we are. I shout at him and say "sir could you please not go off the lips of those, they're for people who are actually using the features" he freaks out on me and says "ill go off whatever I wanna go off of." Luckily a park crew guy was right next to me and heard what we said, walked over and said. "no you wont cause Ill take your pass if i see you doing it again." later that day I supposedly cut him off causing him to wreck and he said i was endangering him and his family with my "wild antics" so i called the park crew guy from earlier. the dad's ticket was clipped and was banned for the rest of the season for making false accusations and I dont feel bad about it at all.

Some dad was filming his kid hitting the rails' lips as jumps. He was using a gopro mounted on a pole that had the end of the pole sticking out past the camera. So, basically the pole would have been in the bottom of every shot of the gopro. So we were talking shit right next to his other like 12 year old son and the kid tells his dad. So we get down to the bottom, dad skis up next to us and says "are you the tough guys talking shit?"

"No we're just admiring your innovative camera mount"

"Uhhh....well yeah it helps me get lots of good angles"

I was hotlapping the park with a snaked everyone through the single line. Since we still wanted to be together on the lift my friend wasnt going. An angry mum pushes him and then gives me a 10min speech on the lift. I pretented not to speak english so she stopped. I then put some wutang full volume and at the end of the lift told her in my best english accent that the reason i snake people is because i have a special steezy pass that gives me the same powers as god, aka tom wallisch. And since i have a fulltilt hoodie i have all privileges on the mountain. She was pretty mindfucked and i felt like a complete dumbass. Was funny tho

I don't think you realize how stupid it was of a mount. The pole was in every single shot and it wasn't like we were yelling to him like "Hey nice gopro mount gaper!". We were just being sarcastic about it on the drop in while he was like 50 feet below.

LOL I suck at reading i thought you clipped her, my B.

thats really shitty, though. parents have that natural defense mindset and i get that. but if the skier was totally owning up to his mistake, was really apologetic and the parent was still being a dick, then it can be a little overboard. cooler heads always prevail and if a parent starts getting all pissed off and wont reason, just ski away.

i jumped clear over this little bastard and his dad freaked out. i told him his son was in a terrible spot and jeopordized anyone hitting the feature, he argued and i told him he was a bad dad! then he tried to fight me. i personally brought him to the bottom of nstar where yellow jackets straightened it all out. the kid was playing around a gnarly feature where i could not see him at all, near decapitation....

So earlier today, last run of the day at sunshine village and I see this skier kid eat it hard right in front of me so I stop, pick up his skis and what not and then his gaper dad comes out of nowhere and starts yelling "don't you see there's a fucking kid there? Can't you wait 5 seconds" and a bunch of other bullshit so I explain to him what happened and he STILL yells at me even after his kid explained what happened to him. So then this fucking guy keeps trying to argue with me and then I just told him off and he just got pissed and left. His kid was laughing the whole time.

Few years back about 3 randomg suy started to throw snowballs at us. So we picked our own snowballs and threw them at them while they were on lift. After 20mins or so the owner of the mountain (hill) came to us with some random woman and then he said this is warning number 2, dont throw snowballs to kids its disrespectful. obviously the 3 kids went and told their mom we threw some at them. of course we tried to explain that they threw at us first, with no success though. Lol.

it's frightening to read that a large amount of Americans seem extremely confrontational and unable to solve minor disputes without the involvement of ski patrol. I have been on the mountain pretty much every day of the last 3 seasons (I work on the mountain) and have yet to see any sort of hostilities among skiers, snowboarders, whatever. How do you guys get into these quite hostile situations? I really don't get it.

Having worked many seasons as a ski instructor I've seen my fair share of kid's parents bitching. More often than not it was at myself or coworkers riding without out "uniforms" on; personal jackets. I work at a small resort mountain in Vermont so the people who are not locals are almost exclusively assholes. Bitching people out for using a curse word within 50 feet of their kids or entering the lift line "too fast" stuff like that. Something that my parents taught me about skiing when I was younger was that the ski mountain was not a toy by any means and that you are sharing it with ADULTS and you can get hurt if your don't respect the mountain.

This one time I threw a 5 on the biggest jump in the park at my hill (probably 20-25') land a little forward and pop out of one ski, pretty embarrassing right? Wrong, the embarrassment was yet to come. My ski kept on shredding without me since my brake had gotten stuck. It cruised down the hill and looked like it was about to hit a rail all on its own, lined up perfectly and everything. The only obstacle was a 4 year old girl with her dad pizza-ing over the lip of the rail. My single K2 now traveling at terminal velocity catches this unsuspecting child squarely across the back of the knees sending her into an almost perfect backflip off the lip of the rail, unfortunately she forgot to pop so she landed on her face and started crying.

Her dad bitched me out acting like it was my fault, I grabbed my ski and showed him the brake had malfunctioned and it was an accident but he insisted that I was a proper hooligan and should vacate the immediate area. He seemed pretty worked up so I decided not to mention that his child shouldn't really be skiing in the park.

My friends just laughed at me from the lift line and then asked me if they should call patrol.
