Everything we do is progressed by these people, skis, boards, climbing, trekking, the internet we browse, splits. I'd like to say Travis is the biggest success story in snowboarding. He only snowboarded casually, and then came back to Jackson Hole to work on a farm for a couple years when he was around 18, and basically said "Fuck It, I'm gonna be the best snowboarder in the world!!!!" and worked through the desire not to shovel shit and get his goals done, he progressed the furthest ever in snowboarding ever, in possibly snowboarding of all time. Big build guy, a cowboy, said FUCK IT I'M GONNA FUCKIN DO IT, and he went and chucked himself into icy landings at the Air&Style all over the globe, Superpark did the biggest Brodeo ever, did some of the first doubles, brought the Dub BS Rodeo 10 into existence and was only his for years, he fucking made John and Eric Jackson, basically made Lib Tech big, made the mountains his bitch all because he'd rather be out there shredding crazy shit and shitting all over the competition and riders than shovel shit. If you're in a video with Travis, you're getting skipped if you're before him, that's what it is now. He is beyond and has broken the path for big mountain freestyle for everyone. He's legend status that no-one apart from a few shall ever achieve (Shane, Tanner, Shaun White, Gian Simmen, Candide, Craig Kelly, CR, Jussi Oksanen, Terje, Marc Basich, Pollard, soon to be Sean Pettit and Sammy C) These guys don't die as long as they have the core *mostly* behind them knowing what they have done for the mountain community and how they have changed the way we look at things day to day. I can safely say if these guys hadn't become what they are, things would be different for all of us. You may not agree with all of their views and stuff, but they have changed us. Think we'd be looking at handrails if it wasn't for legends? Think we'd see features everywhere? It's down to those putting in the time for us to put ours in and follow their tracks. Heros never die, and these people shape my views and life just like they have done yours.
Definitely gonna get a copy now, I was stoked just writing about one of these guys. Mountain People should know the stories of the legends of both skiing and boarding, I'd love to look in even further. FUCK YES. Thanks Moosiman!
