Advice for buying a new car !

sup people?!

im planning on buying a car soon.
just need some input on which car i should buy !
i live in summit county CO so im deff looking for an all wheel drive car or a 4x4 drive car.

deff love hatchbacks.
but any input would be great !

I have a Volvo XC60, it's a great car. I haven't had any problems with it and I drive a lot.

As for some actual advice...don't buy a Subaru unless it's an STI (even the STI blows in the snow compared to a decent truck/SUV with snows though), don't buy a used Audi unless it has CPO warranty, and generally ignore all car advice from NS. If you want an affordable car with decent room and that will perform well in snow, look at recent Grand Cherokees or something. The whole Subaru/Audi/Volvo spiel is so played out and 90% of NS hasn't even driven any of those makes. Of those choices, I'd probably go Volvo, assuming you're not worried about looks.

I disagree, I have driven both 2.5i imprezas and wrx's and own the wrx, and the subarus could get out of almost anything that a truck could. The only problem is that since its lower the clearance is a factor, but i mean it's a car vs a truck, its going to happen.

I drive the exact Subaru I posted in here and it's not even my first Subaru. Both are awesome in snow. Yeah if there's too much snow and I don't have clearance it's going to be a problem, but I didn't buy my car to cater towards one specific situation I didn't even encounter living in a ski town.

There's a reason you see so many Subarus in New England.

To OP, Lord knows I am a huge outback fangirl, but honestly there's a reason why. Best ski car I've ever owned/ driven. Plenty of Clarence,low CG, get you up to the mountain fast if you need to go up a 2 lane road. They will do 98% of what an SUV will off-road as well. proof:

classic AR6. DNT GET SUBARU BCUS JEEPS AND TRUCKS

some people have budgets. You think this girl needs some high performance fun car. And maybe she even wants good gas mileage. I loved my first car, a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it was also a fucking nightmare. The heater and AC were fucked, and since it was a sealed block with a coolant line running through the middle, my engine self imploded and no more jeep.

But its not just me. I'm from Sedona and all we do for fun is 4 wheel and downhill bike. And all the affordable Grand Cherokee's from 1995-2002 have serious issues once they go over 100k(ish). Some models have tranny issues, some have block issues like mine did, and they all get 15 MPG on a great day. It was a great off road fuck around car, but it wasn't a good ski/everyday car. If you can find an older volvo, you are golden. But outbacks are a great car for what you want and can be found pretty cheap. Same with audi's. They aren't going to be perfect, but they are a whole hell of a lot more reliable than a fucking grand Cherokee.

And AR6, either me or someone in my family has owned all of these other than an awd volvo. I've driven one STI, and it was fun, but past that i really havent driven a tuned or modded car. So if you want that listen to AR6. If you want a good car that won't break down, looks decent, can move in snow, and is moderately priced, listen to anyone else.

get an acura TSX with snow tires. It's been my ride for the last 4 years in Colorado through snow and in the oilfields which have roads much less maintained than I70. Seriously, why do people feel they need AWD for freeway and paved roads and parking lots that are regularly plowed?

I had to help dig two Subarus out last week because they think because they have AWD they don't need snow tires. Until they lose traction and slide into the ditch

Snow tires much more valuable than AWD, And AWD takes up gas mileage and takes away power.
