After four years my girlfriend finally agreed to try snowsports this year, but she wants to try snowboarding because it looks "easier" . Any tips to talk her out of it and pick up sticks.

Well its not easier. Skiing is way easier, assuming she wouldn't be doing park first couple times going out.

on a real note, skiing is def easier to learn. TV and the media make snowboarding out to be the cliché cool thing to do though.

Get her to ski. It's much easier than snowboarding, much less of a hassle, and she'll progress much faster.

Tell her she won't fall nearly as much when learning, and it will be easier to explore the whole mountain (steeper runs, tight trees) much sooner. The key is to stay out of the park for a while as she learns. the park is no place for a beginner, and the beauty of skiing is the versatility to explore new parts of the mountain.

Thanks for helpful tips , I tryed both and when I went to skiing it was alot easier to progress just harder to get used too that's why I rather convince her t to just ski first

That's the point. You want her to absolutely hate it and never want to come riding with you again.

The only girls worth riding with are the ones who do it because they enjoy it, not because you do. And don't tell yourself she will learn to enjoy it with you, you will both hate it.

This makes alot of sense , she's just doing photography at her school and I figured I might be able to get some edits and help her out. I guess I'll just have to wait for the season to start and find out

couldn't agree more. You can keep the worlds separated. It might sound like a good idea, but when it is her 2nd time boarding, and she is still slow as fuck and still can't get off the lift properly, you're going to regret it.

If she wants to snowboard, why try to make her ski? Just let her board if that's what she wants to do. At least she wants to get out on the slopes with you. Don't listen to all the retarded high school kids who have never been in a relationship.

uhh...tell her snowboarding isn't easier to learn? I'm a little worried that you couldn't figure that out on your own.

That said, I don't see why you care whether she skis or snowboards. Why not just let her do whichever one she thinks will be more fun?

I am sorry, I shoulda clarified. My lady friend shreds, and I love it. However, I am most certainly not the one who taught her how haha. I have tried teaching past lady friends and would have preferred having my toe nails taken out

It's just not fun to have whoever you're dating get all pissy that things aren't easy as fuck and you're better than her and then have her chew you out for not being a good teacher and all that. Get someone who knows what the fuck they're doing and will take the verbal abuse so you don't have too.

That's a pretty shitty joke. Maybe the instructors suck at your mountain. Skiing is easier to learn, snowboarding is easier to get legitimately good at.

Without a lesson skiers can be hitting green trails first day. Without a lesson snowboarder are at best falling leaf and many times torpedo to exploding yard sale and repeat.

I agree with you man. I've skied all my life and I hopped on a board a couple years ago. First day it hurt, but after about 2 or 3 days I could go down just about any run on the mountain, hit rails, do 1s, 3s, etc.
