Rail problems

Ok guys so here is my problem,

I'm an excellent skier (8 yrs) and i just started park 1 yrs ago (this is my second year). I am able to do some rails and even back twos and front twos. This yr I'm rocking the Chronics and I ski at a local small resort In Massachusetts so there arent many options as far as park concerns. So, I want to hit this up tube right, and I know I will get it within two or three tries, and i feel some confidence. Its about 10 ft long and 2 ft high and slides very well (not very steep either). However, my mind just won't let me do it. Now, this season I have hit flat rails and boxes however, I cant get the mental strength to do it. My friend Mike has been skiing for 1 year and he can do it and wants me to do it as well.
So what can I do here?
PLEASE HELP this thing is driving me nuts if I don't grow some balls I feel as if I'll never be a good skier.
Any respones will help!

Go into the feature with speed. I struggle with tubes also

Is it because it's round? I was sketched the first time I tried a tube/round rail because it just doesn't seem like it should work so easily at all. Once you try it you'll realize it feels no different under your feet, and if anything they're easier to lock into because scissoring takes no effort at all

Tubes and round rails are most definetly easier if you ask me, It's easier to correct yourself if you start to fall off. I learned on a ghetto round pvc rail.

Just envision the rail as being an iceberg and you are a penguin who is self conscious about belly sliding so you must slide it on your feet

yep. its like 12 bucks. get it as long and wide as you want, throw it down in some snow, and slide it.

I was sketchy out of hitting down rails last year and even the beginning of this year a little. Then I just realized, don't lock the legs up and I'm fine. Now I can hit this steep ass trap/battleship/ufd rail at my hill and I grease it every time. Also have hit dub kinks and tried a quad. I feel special. Give me a cookie?

when in doubt, straighten 'em out.  take a lil speed and hit it like any other flat rail and you'll slide it first try no problem. then you'll be kicking yourself for not trying it earlier and realizing how much more fun that rail is than half of the ones you've been hitting already

In all seriousness tho, as you said - if you don't grow some balls you'll never be a good skier (isn't that motivation already?). Just don't think about it, don't think at all just go into the feature with good speed and tell the pussy in you to go fuck himself.
Also, i've found that taking a few light falls or crashes gives me some confidence (it reminds me that falling's not so horrible after all). Just hit it, you'll get it in a few few tries as you said.

The best way for me to overcome fear of trying something new is to put in both headphones turn up the music ski down the hill hitting everything and when you get to the particular fewture, just hit it with no hesitation. Be confidante in your self and you'll get it and if you don't you've overcome the fear of the first time so just hike up and hit it again. And from how you've described your skiing ability, I am confidant that you'll get it first try

I just started getting into park this year too, and trust me it's no different than any other rail. I'm guessing your most scared about actually initially getting on the rail, not so much the sliding once your on it part (or at least that's what scares me about some features). Trust me, you'll get on the rail fine as long as you pop and fully turn 90 degrees just like hitting any other rail, and sliding it feels so similar to sliding a flat rail you probably won't even really notice it.

well once you build the courage to hit it the best advice i can give you is to make sure your skis are as sideways as possible, this should help you keep from falling off your front side, it worked for me, hope it works for you as well

The same thing happened to me with kinked rails, honestly though just go for it. You probably won't fall and you'll probably get almost the whole thing if not the whole thing first try. After you try it you will just be hating yourself for not hitting it earlier so just go for it next time your skiing

try hitting it really slowly so that its less scary. even if you fall off once you get on it you'll realize how easy and not scary hitting it is and youll be able to hit it faster and slide it to the end. This is what worked for me anyway i hope this helps.
