Holy shit this movie was fucking wild. In a world where CGI explosions and terrible plots/acting are (unfortunately) taking over in movies, it's always refreshing to see a movie like this come out and restore a little faith in this world. Seeing this and American Hustle over the last few days has made me stoked on movies again.

I forgot how good DiCaprio and Scorsese are, Jonah Hill usually annoys the shit out of me but he actually didn't in this movie, and the overall insanity of this dude's lifestyle is beyond comprehension.

Anyone else see it? Thoughts?

Also, I heard there is a Netflix documentary on Jordan Belfort that is supposedly pretty rad and the book is even crazier. Gotta check those out..

Really hoping so. How that dude hasn't won an award yet is absolutely insane to me.

Definitely go check it out though, you won't be disappointed. See it a little buzzed if you can, makes it a party.

I'm aware that good movies are still being made and I do pay attention. I'm big into cinema and I haven't completely lost faith yet. I'm just saying that audiences are generally pretty brainwashed by CGI effects, terrible acting, and overall shitty cinema these days, which sucks.

Most entertaining movie I've seen in some time. Absolutely hilarious throughout, Margot Robbie is a complete dime and gets naked more than once (plus about 50 other fiiiiiine women), and Leo and Jonah killed it. The three hours flew by for me.

I saw it last night and to be honest I was actually kind of dissapointed. I was going in expecting Jordan to be characterized as a nihilistic villian but I never really got that vibe and just saw Leo playing another eccentric wealthy dude. The humor wasn't often followed by an equally serious scene if that makes sense. The music also fucking killed some scenes for me. Definitely far from a bad movie just not exactly what I was expecting.

You realize cinema as always been like this? Studios have been pumping out worthless genre movies since their inception. Glad to hear it was good though, def on my lis to see. Dicaprio is one of my favorite actors and its good to see jonah becoming a more serious and mature actor. Kids super talented, like a shia labouf "rags to riches"

Yeah man! Just like how all the kids these days are listening to horrible music that isn't even music with the beeps and boops. Honestly though it's amazing how many self righteous people there are who claim to be authorities on art yet only look at mainstream examples of it and hate.

Probably all left because of the sex scenes, there were about 10 sex scenes throughout the movie, making it not all that family friendly. I enjoyed the movie but many of the adults around us were disgusted and I can say that many people did leave 10-15 minutes into the movie as they were just fed up.

It was a great movie though, probably just not one you want to take the parents with to.

Barely read anything so i could get down here and post asap. This movie was fucking amazing, OP is right every blockbuster these days is full of CGI action and half bull shit. This movie was crazy and still based on a true story. Its weird how people's lives are sometimes more interesting that giant robots fighting sea monsters. Overall if you are going to see one movie in the next few weeks see this one. Hell ill probably watch it at least a few more times

For those in this thread thinking about seeing either this movie or American Hustle I can tell you that i saw American Hustle today. It was absolutely FANTASTIC acting, but too slow and dull for my tastes. Felt like the movie was building up to something spectacular and I wouldn't be able to predict anything about to happen, but it didn't and I did. Just not my cup of tea!

Exactly how I felt. Kind of wish I read the book after seeing the movie, but whatever, I thought it was super entertaining. 10 or 15 people walked out in the first 45 minutes, which was funny, had absolutely no idea what they were getting themselves into.

Worst movie i have seen in years. the whole movie was just leo being an arrogant prick, getting high, and sleeping with girls, which is kinda cool for the first 5 minutes, but that is all that happens in the whole fucking movie. The only good part was the ending because that meant it couldnt go on any longer

Legitimately one of my favorite movies I've seen recently. I think a lot of people feel that the movie is blown out of proportion or exaggerated, but none of it is. It almost exactly parallels what Belfort wrote about in his book. Plus, I can't think of a better actor than Leo to play Belfort. Jonah Hill was the wildcard for me, but he definitely exceeded my expectations. He played his part really well.

Kinda sucks how sensitive society these days. Everyone bitching about how it is "so tasteless and disgusting."

Scorsese likes portraying real shit in his movies. This movie displays exactly that. It shows what happens when a young American male scams people and makes hundreds of millions of dollars. It portrays everything in excess and the level of obnoxiousness and absurdity that comes with it.

The people crying about it are probably pussified little liberals living in their backwoods shanties and hating on it just because it has the aspect of money and a lifestyle that they could never comprehend in a million years. I'm not saying that the lifestyle is correct in any way, I'm only saying that a lot of people aren't understanding the movie in the way it's intended to be shown.

Either way, the bottom line is that society is too soft these days.

great acting, great production, great cinematography, great tits, great fun.

waaaaayyyyyy too fucking long. Scorsese clearly didn't listen to his editor. It could have easily been cut down an hour and have been just as great in every way. It really started to drag and be very repetitive. His girl in the movie is also hot as fuck.
