Ankle pain in boot

So I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago and I'm walking on it fine now. My problem is that when I put my foot in my boot it hurts like a motherfucker... any tips like on if I should wrap it up or take more Advil?

don't ski on it. you'll no doubt do more damage. just take it easy till it doesn't hurt and do some stretches and what not.

I've already been skiing on it. There is no pain while I'm skiing just when I'm on the lift.

just because you don't feel pain doesn't mean your injury has healed man. I think thats one of the biggest deceptive qualities of acl/mcl injuries.

if it still hurts in the boot on the lift up but not while actually skiing then you're still injured and your body is doing its best to try to complete the healing process under harder circumstance due to the restricted blood flow in your boot.

just chill out and let your ankle fully heal. You'll be much happier missing out on a few days of skiing because of a bum ankle as opposed to getting injured again, and fucking your foot for the season.

So I'm no doctor but when you sprain or roll your ankle what has happened is all the tendons and cartilage in your angle has been stretched out. The reason it is sore is because those all got stretched more than they should. Once you roll your ankle you cant do more damage unless you roll it again. You might slow down the healing process but you wont actually be doing more damage. Im guessing when youre on the lift the weight of the boot at ski is pulling and that is what is making it hurt. When youre skiing it feels fine because ski boots are a giant ankle brace and your ankle isnt getting pulled on. Try to see if you can pull the little bar thing down over you so you can rest your foot on the lift. Your options are you can stop skiing let it heal and get back out, or keep skiing and the healing process will just take much longer. But you wont be doing more damage by skiing on a rolled ankle.

Or get new liners/different boots that fit your feet better. The one thing I don't buy without trying on first boots or shoes. So many different sized and shaped feet out there and I gotta make sure the boots I buy are going to be just as comfy as the first hour after 6-7 hours of skiing.

I would first advise to not ski on it, but if you do, don't wrap it up. If anything you want to let it have some room rather than compressing it while riding (damaging it further. Use RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) while at home and it should heal soon enough.
