Hi. I'm a 6 ft 1 16 year old skier. I'm 180 pounds and i ski park but am trying to spend more time out of it, especially in whatever powder we get in VT. I love the trees. I'll probably be 50/50 park/sidecountry+trails. I purchased last years line blends and I don't know what kind of bindings to get. Please help.
P.S. I ski mostly at Okemo, Mount Snow, Killington and my home mountain of Butternut.
^I second that. Investing in good durable bindings (metal) is hugely worthwhile. Beyond just the predictability and performance you get with an all metal binding, you get something that'll be that way season after season. Dealing with shitty plastic bindings that release unpredictably and break often is extraordinarily frustrating too.
I personally prefer the driver toe STH bindings. They're just as bomber as FKS, but have way more adjustability, you can swap brakes if you snap some, and they're super easy to get in and out of, whereas FKS can sometimes be a huge pain in the ass if you're hiking and the snow is sticky or if you're in deep snow. Sure they don't have quite as much elasticity, but they're just much easier to deal with. And if you want a metal binding, you can always buy a pair of old 916s on TGR for $150 and count on them to last for decades...
