So, can someone explain to me the fascination with JFK? I understand he was assassinated, was young, had a great 1st Lady, was a Kennedy, but beyond that, he didnt really amount to much from what I have heard.

(This is coming from someone who hasnt done much in regards to American Political History during the Cold War Era)

I forgot to mention I know the basics (Cuban Missile Crisis, MM Controversy, Bay of Pigs, etc) but I dont understand why people believed he would have amounted to such a great president.

I remember hearing in my US history class that the reason he was killed (and his brother, lawyer) is that because his father had payed off the mob to get fake voted for a swing state or something and the father never 100% payed them so the mob was like "you're gonna regret this" and the was like "k lol" then the 2 sons were murdered

I'm shocked you don't go to a private school, with the country's top educators. On a real note I've always had a very strong gut feeling, he was killed by the Federal Reserve although I have no proof for it.

The fascination between it all stems from all the conspiracies and questions that arose that day. And, it was all on live TV - it was the first time something this big has happened.

An analogy of that happening in that day and age with media coverage would be comparing it to September 11, 2001 in the States -- especially in the north east.

Read the time article in the most recent edition on JFK -- I did yesterday, it's awesome.
