Replying to Line Prophet 98 vs Armada ARV Ti, same measurements but different stats???
Hi there
(From Denmark, so pardon the misspellings and wrong choice of words. Hope you get it anyways)
I'm looking at the Prophet 98 and the ARV Ti, and looking at the manufacturers website, it seems like they have the same measurements:
Prophet: 132-98-123, 179 cm
ARV Ti: 133-98-123, 178 cm
But the sidecut radius is different:
Prophet: 17 m
ARV Ti: 20,5
How come? Different ways of measuring? Or does the ski's stiffness have a say?
The shape of the ski is a little different, as the ARV Ti got more tiprocker and is wider a bit down from the top, where as the Prophet is shaped more like a carve ski. My logic says that the shorter length where the ski "carves"/gets narrower should give a shorter sidecut radius!?!?
Maybe the measurement is done where the ski is in contact with the ground, making the actual place where the ski is widest is in the tip rocker, which is not in contact with the ground?
Hope someone can make me more clever on these things.
Anyone who knows which one is stiffer? I will mainly use it as a on piste ski, with occasional drops in to the nearby offpist/non-prepared snow.
Thanks a lot
