Filming Question

So I want to get some better more professional looking shots skiing this year and have been thinking about using a tripod but i will mostly be filming in powder and the deep stuff, any one know the best way to get a stable tripod to work in snow? Also if anyone has any other tips on filming skiing for like powder and cliffs that would be much appreciated!

Buy a steadicam. Tripods are a hassle to set up in the snow. With an S-cam you will be able to shoot stable and steady videos all while holding the camera. A remote comes in handy too.

Or buy an inexpensive tripod with a sliding rail and attach snow shoes to it.

Ya i have a glidecam but I think i need more practice using it im still not getting super smooth shots, thats why i was going for a tripod

Also an easy alternative could be to use a monopod, could help with the steady shots and not have that slight shake or movement you might get when using a steadycam. Also next time bring this thread over to Media/Arts

I don't see why you'd need a tripod unless you're doing sequences or if it's dark out... you're going to be shooting at high shutter speeds for skiing.
