I have a way that makes it so easy, Im sure most of you know it, but you jst hyperventilate for like 1 minute and then I held my breath for 2 minutes easy, it was cool. Plus im small, I have small lung capacity, I think I might work my way up to like 3 minutes.

yeah I could go for like 2:30 Im thinking wihtout much difficulty, my goal was 1 minute though and then I was liek woah im way oast that and then at 2 minutes I was struggling so I stopped. Plus your lungs are bigger than mine, and you are just a little bit cooler/

i can do almost 4:00 minutes like that, but im a runner, and my lung capacity is like 8 liters, so i have a bit of an advantage over you all. i can run a 5k in 1605 suckas!

haha when i did synchro my coach made us do that to get our lung capacity up. i used to be able for like 2.5 mins...but not since i've stopped swimming.

i am home in ct from boulder so the air is much thicker here, and i hold my breath in the hot tub, first time ive ever broken 4 was this week. it got scary, but people dont know that you just have to fight the urge for air, once you get scared you have like another minute. its fun

i swam underwater for about a minute and a half. and this summer i was working underwater moving cinderblocks and doing chain work, i stayed about 15 feet deep for jsut over 2 minutes, my buddy thought i drown, i almost thought i did too. but im really out of shape now, so i'm pretty hard pressed to make it to a minute 30. i never heard of the hyperventilating trick though, i'll give it a go some day

well, if you deep sea dive, you have to worry about the benze, its an influx ofnitrogen in your blod system, and it can kill you very easily. thats why you always see those guys come up and go into a decompression chamber. nhat way they dont die.

ya hyperventilating helps soo much, thats whatfreedivers do. just breathe in and out deeply and quickly for a while, youll start to feel alittle dizzy.
the reason why it helps: your body goes by the amount of CO2 inside you´to decide when to breathe again, instead of how little oxygen. when you hyperventilate you expel a ton of Co2 and so yousort of fool your body into thinking you dont need to brathe as soon. or something like that

Also i read an article I think in sports illustrated on free diving, and apparantly there are sensors in your face so that when your head goes underwater, your body adjusts so it pumps less blood to your extremities. It also said those divers can get their heart rate down to 8 beats per minute. It's pretty amazing.

I tried to find the article on SI, but it was like a year ago or two so i didn't have any luck. Keep in mind they can only get down to 8 bpm when their head is underwater (because of the sensors in face thingy).

its when you hold your breathe...eventually your body constricts the artieries to you extremities so more o2 rich blood stays where it is need (core of the body) and keeps the vital organs alive. this technique helps sea lions stay underwater for like 30 minutes

holding your breath through the eisenhower tunnel sucks. you see the light at the end of the tunnel, then its another 30 seconds or so. im not sure how long the whole tunnel is though. my records around 2:15 by the way

yeah i read the article about the freediving chick that tried to get a world record but she dies, then her husband was all pissed about it because he was a freediver too, and yeah those people can all hold their breaths for like 8 min on land, its pretty amazing shit that they do
