Lange Question

Well yeah it's risky but if you have tried the 100 on in the same size an it fit well then the 130 shoul be good. Obviously you will still need it fitting so worn out if the money you will save is actually going to be much cheaper then waiting for next seasons and buying in a shop. Fitting can get expensive if you buy online. Also have you been recommended that you need the 130 flex. You would be amazed how many skiers are in boots too stiff for them. But you do have pretty big feet so in guessing your a big guy.

By shop fitting, you mean any custom work they do (i.e. footbeds, heat moldable liners etc)? How much extra does this run? On my last pair of boots I don't remember them doing anything, but they weren't exactly expensive boots (older model Falcon 120s)

update: also just spoke with an experienced boot fitter that said in these boots a 28 mondo who skis hard would probably want to drop to a 27.5 in these boots....

It's really impossible to say weather you should drop down to a 27 without seeing your foot in the shell. Just because its a high level boot does not mean you instantly downsize. You need to be shell checked and get the shell size which works best for you. By the sound of it I would say your better off waiting as it does not seem you know for certain which size you need.

It regards to fitting, it could include wheel work which can be 30 bucks a stretch, moulding the liners which could be 20-40 depending on the shop. And yeah custom footbeds for sure for a boot like that they will be 150-200. Really get the footbeds first and they can dramatically change the shape and size of your foot, so it's always best to try boot with them unless you are been fitted by a real top level fitter who can take things like that into account.

Langes break on the full shell, meaning the only difference between a 28.0 and 28.5 is the liner.  If you are sure you are a 28.0 in a Lange, you could buy the 28.5 and purchase a different liner, or maybe take the liner that comes with it to a shop and see if they would swap it for a 28.0 liner.  I'm of the mindset that the smaller the boot the better, so maybe a 27.5 would be the way to go.  It's hard to say without going to a shop and putting them on.  Also, just because you are a 28.0 in one brand of boot, doesn't mean that it would be the same for another brand.  my 2 cents...

I'm a Lange guy.  I have a size 9 street shoe and I somehow fit in a Lange 25.5  It's very, very snug but my foot doesn't budge one bit after 3 seasons in the same boot.  Sure, it's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but I would gladly trade performance for comfort any day.  I like the instant energy transfer to the ski with a very tight boot.  no slop.  slop sucks for skiing.
