I can't remember a time when I saw an advertisement online or something and actually went to that website and ordered whatever it was...have you?

Good point op. i feel like its only gullible retards who get persuaded by stupid fucking comercials. But thanks to dvr i just let my program play a while then i go back to start watching and skip them all. Haha!

Yes we all have been influenced by advertising whether we are aware of it or not. For example, I drink Monster over Amp and Rockstar simply because they have more of a mainstay in the skiing industry. I'm sure you have chosen products that have relations to the free skiing world simply because of that.

I once saw an ad for low international travel fares.

I clicked. Brought me to orbitz. The homepage had some sort of "LAX to Rome for $400" or something like that.

A little bit of searching and I had a round trip airfare to Switzerland for $160. This was around 6 years ago.

Similar thing happened last february when I saw a "$50 off all international flights!" for Vayama...
Ended up with a $450 round trip airfare for Switzerland again.

Think that's just about it.. but every time I see the infomercial for The Magic Bullet, I want one so bad.

most of the time they dont work consciously.

they do shit like plant a seed in your mind that infects you and when you're at the store looking through shit that brand sticks out.

i catch myself humming tunes i hear repeatedly on the radio at random times of the day and think "i've been infected".

it almost seems criminal that people do that to you. it's like if your flash something at someone so many milliions of times, they're bound to succumb to the bias of choosing it next time they want anything related.

one time me and my friends were sitting at their house in tahoe stoned as fuck. we were watching TV and a burger king commercial came on. everybody was like "AWW that looks soooo good."

we ended up walking to a mcdonald's in SLT because it was nearer to us and in walking distance. so i guess you could say BK's advertising gave MCD's some business.

therefore i conclude that no company should advertise ever.

but really, the best way to advertise is to have a fucking good product so that everyone just chooses to buy it.

It actually is criminal....at least in America. The FCC banned subliminal advertising in 1974 after the results of a Ft. Lee movie theater experiment in which they flashed microseconds of "Drink Coke" and "Eat popcorn" and reported something like a 20% increase in concessions. If i'm not mistaken, it turns out that the results of the experiment were actually falsified, but the ban has remained in effect.

D-Structure's sale ad's with Henrik made me go to their website and check them out. When I seen they were Canadian (usually free and quick shipping to MB from QC) and had a bunch of stuff I wanted I had to buy from them. Other than that, hardly any of the ad's on here or other websites I visit pique my interest; and the only TV I watch, The Weather Network, hardly has much for ad's that are applicable to me.

I once tried to learn Ron Jeremy's 10 tips to a bigger dick from an ad, but I just ended up getting computer AIDS. I actually think that the best buy tech support guys make those ads for the extra business.

I really wonder why brands like Coca Cola spend as much as they do on advertising. Aside from the actual Coke drink, they own a fucking empire. You either drink Coke, or you drink Pepsi or you drink some organic cola...if you are even getting cola. Its so embedded in the soft drink world. I highly doubt that the margin of people who make those age old choices according to the lifestyle Coca Cola is trying to project are bringing in the hundreds of millions they spend on marketing and events. Its Coke, or its Pepsi. its whatever the restaurant vends. its whatever the fuck you enjoy drinking most.
