I've shaped two normal foam boards already, 1 eps and 1 pu. It's not hard to turn out a surfable product, but to make a masterpiece is much harder. I like to say mine is the dimensions intended within experimental error. People do wood boards on their own too. But these guys are masters of that craft. You can buy kits from them as far as I know.
I think longboarding and noseriding are super cool, but I've never owned a board longer than 6'4" at the moment. If I lived up their I'd probably have made one by now.
