How difficult are the Bowls at Keystone...?

Hey all -

We are taking a trip to Keystone for Spring Break this year (1st week of April 2013).

We've been looking at the Bowl options online but can't seem to find any real good info in terms of the difficulty of the South and/or North Bowls.

Someone mentioned to me long ago that the Independence Bowl is really a Blue in terms of difficutly.  They mark it as a Black Diamond because of the inconsistent terrain and weather conditions so high on the mountain.

Is the South Bowl too steep to venture up there for an intermediate skier?  And how about the trees you go through before getting back to the lift?  We enjoy skiing through trees but only if the incline is similar to a Blue Square trail.  If the trees at in the South/North Bowls are super steep, then we should reconsider...

Any thoughts?

It's Keystone, and Summit County...it can't be anything to hard.

Easy but fun, get back there early though. Lots of people hike them in the afternoon. There's a $5 Cat option to.

Theres some fun glades over on north peak but its nothing comparable to Jackson or Alta by any means.

The main attraction to Key is the park.

Erikson bowl is pretty dope lots of fun cliffs.

key's bowls are such a waste of time, you hike forever to ski mellow ass trees. with the exception of the fun cornice south bowl can have and a few rocks to jump off of in erikson.

keystone is the flattest mountain around, the only danger is gapers who will cut you off. they are incredibly easy, i dont even think there are cliffs at keystone.

There are a couple, and a few sets of pillow lines. The biggest they get though is 15ft. So they are pretty small. One off of Frenchmen is one of the biggest on the mountain, and also the one near the Zuma line. The biggest one there which is 35ft, which is under opg is gnarly as fuck and there is no snow lol

I remember the good season two years ago the cliffs under the outpost gondola were actually hit-able, first time and only time I ever saw them that covered. I haven't even ski'd keystone besides a51 since then haha

I'd say Breck is flatter in general than Key, although Breck has steeper terrain in places.

Khacki analog pants
2013 FT booters
and a black helmet with a NS on the side

I chill at the bottom of the lift on the picnic table all the time. Prolly be chillen in the snow boat
