Griptape on skis

Has anyone ever griptaped their skis? I was thinking it might be neat if I put grip tape on the top sheet and then did stencils or something. I'm not necessarily planning on doing this I just thought it would be neat and was wondering if any of you have

On the Old Dynastar Candide Pros ther was griptape above the front binding on both skis..... it stayed on too! it helped for protecting the skis from crosses and all that.

I had a pair so i would know.

^I would imagine that would scratch the bases, which are much more important than topsheet, so I don't think that's such a good idea

^^^ On my Candides it was a clear substance with a bunch of diamond ridges, depending on how hot/cold it was the snowsometimes sticked but you just swiped it off and it was all good. but i still like NON griptape skis. thanx

i've seen pics of people who put that on their tails. there was a pic on here of a kid who snapped his tm's on an urban rail and he had griptape on the tails. i guess maybe it could help with grabs or something

i dont see how griptape would help. when you grab, you grab the edges so griptape on the topsheet would be kinda useless.

i used to make Grip tape stickers then put them in my key grab spots (mute, tail and side of my boot). its sweet.

Here's a little experiment.... Paint your skis with spray paint... go skiing for a couple days.. look at the paint...
You'll notice that the paint on the tail disapears supper quick, because for some reason, the backs of your skis hit each other alot. Putting grip-tape on the tails of your skis would only dull your edges.

shitty idea... candides had a little grip tape patch except it was useless cause when the snow goes over it it becomes completely slidy... and also if your ski was all griptape and you crossed them your bases would get scratched up as fuck!

i did that with a pair of old volkls. it didnt work to good. to flexy, even though they were stiff skis.

hmmm well I read this entire thread...very gay...but I was thinking at first...Id like to do something to protect my edges...so i thought why not just put duct tape or something on the inside edges of your skis...then when you cross em and shit the edges will just hit the duct tape and cut it up instead of your nice topsheet and sull the edges...I dont know if It would work in application but it sounds good in theory
