Why is Skiing better than Snowboarding?

alright NS,

ive got to give a speech to persuade in my college public speaking class and i need help brainstorming. besides obvious things like not getting stuck anywhere, and being faster, help me articulate why this sport is so much better...

I agree, this sounds like something I might have done in highschool.  Regardless, skiers go bigger, easier to learn, visit more resorts, easier to stay on rails.

try controversial topics revolving ethics.  I just read an article in the paper that in utah supermarkets are not obligated to label GMO (genetically modified foods) even though 80% of the products are. 

something along those lines.

Kida lame subject to write an entire speech on dude. But hey if i had to write a speech about it id say skiing better cuz its like two snowboards on each foot. And having to snowboards is better than one, right?

this is a SP111 public speaking class at a community college, and my teacher is a former magician....

as long as i have a thesis and supporting assertations and, maybe a hook thrown in im gettin a solid grade.

It's really difficult to get people to change their minds about something when you cannot provide actual, measurable evidence. You're never going to find any real proof that skiing is better than snowboarding, and without that proof, you are just expressing opinions.

This honestly isn't even high school worthy. You can't create an argument based off of complete ideology. Your idea that skiing is better than snowboarding is completely subjective opinion based on your personal interests that only relate to you, therefore any argument you make will have no factual backing because a snowboarder could create the same exact argument.

The only way you could argue one is better than the other is because one has some sort of better economic, environmental, political, or something related implication. But seeing is that they both involve the same production processes for the most part, utilize the same kind of terrain, and cater to similar audiences, you would be faced with a massive task research wise.

How about, instead of saying skiing is better than snowboarding, if you really wanna take that path, say why skiing is important to you, or a great thing in general.

Damn fucking right. The which sport is better argument is solely based on opinion. I honestly would do "Do hate groups have a right to free speech....?" And I would (I've done this in like 8th grade for a social studies class) use this source. ITS THE SUPREME FUCKING COURT, AS CREDIBLE AS IT CAN GET.

think skiings got the dopest trips while boarding looks more simple but I don't hate. I tryed a speech like this and it did not turn out well considering how alot of people outside of snow think snowboarding is cooler. But I guess that depends. Its pretty damn hard to do a speech on this since you don't have a good way to persuade, either way with facts. its too much opinion
