Im saying the mountains in aspen. Buttermilk offers great beginner terrain, snowmass has the sickest park I've ever been to with great trees, the highland bowl is unbelievabley sick, and ajax is great for advanced skiers who like steep groomers.

Are we talking all around? or best natural terrain? or? what?

I really like mammoth. Go there about twice a month during the season, but I also think Squaw and Kirkwood have amazing terrain although not as much going on in the park aspect. I feel like it's a tough balance to make.

I always thought mammoth was great, but I didn't realize everyone else thought it was that amazing. I guess I should be grateful I live relatively close.

its so underrated in magazines and stuff, but its definitely in my top 5

the park is the best in the west, they have excellent terrain, and get almost 500 in average snowfall.

and before anyone says anything about "perfect utah powder" read Feb. 2013 Powder magazine

It is actually Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico that get the best snow. It's always blower here.

When they are 100% open it is tough to beat Crested Butte, Telluride, and Taos. Best thing about them is big terrain and no crowds. Places like Squaw, Jackson and Snowbird are all great mountains but they get tracked out so fast while at the north face of CB you can get powder all day, Even more so at Taos.

 Telluride's sidecountry is among the best in North America.

What about Monarch and Wolfie? Way less crowded, way more snow, and some sick terrain (I think Telluride is better for terrain)

for an all around awesome skiing experience, i think Mammoth has a top notch resort going. difficult double blacks, fun powder and cliffs, and one of the best parks in America. others would include:

Squaw-Alpine
Breck
Park city

I actually don't think there's much room for debate on this one. Mammoth routinely has a top five park in the nation, has one of the longest seasons in the nation, has a fair amount of acres, and has some kickass terrain. Damn do I miss Mammoth. I'll be there in less than two weeks though!

Also, as someone else said, Schweitzer is an awesome mountain, too. The snow is phenomenal (especially for me coming from CA), the park is pretty tight, but it's just too short. It does lack that WOW factor terrain, but it's an awesome mountain tucked away in panhandle Idaho that has everything a well-rounded skier desires.

powder mountain, 7000+ acres of sick skiing even the groomers are fun. backcountry with free shuttle service back to the lift, $18 cat rides in 3 areas i think. so nice

Unsure if you're joking.

It's a fun little local mountain, and I am sure a lot of people would kill to have it as their home resort. But when the drive there is 2 hours and mammoth is only 5, I will go with Mammoth.
