Tips for staying off edges on boxes

Hey guys. So I need some advice.

I've been working on them for a little bit and still just can't stay off my edges.

Questions:

1. When I come for the box, I've been watching people and they have their feet wide, like when you go for a 360 or some shit, or should I come from the right and pop onto it. I've been coming from the right.

2. How do I stay off my edges?

3. I can't stick the landing. I always just come of the box and land sideways and slide. I can't get that final pop.

NOTE:

I live in Ohio, so not as much skiing as I wish.

Also I'm 13 and been skiing 3 years. I've learned a lot this year thru lessons and friends.

Sounds like balance is your main problem. Focus on putting more weight on your front foot and keeping a wide stance on the box. This will keep you off your edges. Also keep your eyes on the end of the box and cheat your shoulders a little downhill. You don't need to turn your entire body 90 degrees.

sorry, friend of mine is from there and i saw him having the same problems.

make sure you slide the edge of the box underfoot, as if there were rails on the edge of the box, and your trying to slide the rail.

After you hop on, make sure you scissor a little bit.

not me but

see how before he spins of the rail, his toe on the front foot is pointed upwards? do that, it will help you lock on to the rail/box and allow you to spin 90/270/450 out when you reach the end, because you now have that grip/edge on the feature.

also watch the end of the rail as soon as you land on it. where you look is where you will go.

keep forward pressure in your boots. and keep your shoulders square with your hips and legs.

if you have your chest facing the end of the rail while trying to have your feet twisted to 90, it'll be extremely easy to slip out.

practice coming straight on too if there's a feature that isn't set up urban style. it provides a better base for learning 2 ons and such. plus it'll make it easier to come on from the side
