How many people do you think know about Steve? Is the amount that he gets "paid" (or if he even gets money from sponsors) fair compared to his fame? Im under the impression that his fame/skill/influance is overlooked greatly by his sponsors. Steve has met/coached so many kids, been in so many edits and is very well know. I feel like he is a classic example of a skier that sells product but not given much by his sponsors. Thoughts?
apparently mr parry cant distinguish between a joke and truthful statement. why would saga care about putting a hat company out of business? they sell completely different products and are in no way competitors. the statement was effective though, it was meant to rile andy up and i guess it did. if we wanted to put yoke out of business why would we continue to sponsor and work with similar athletes and events?
Because some people only find humor in things that really get to another's core.
But the real reason behind the initial response is that mr parrys logic is flawed. A company has only so much money to spend on their team. If you take that and sprinkle it around to 100 people then you don't have the funds to support the 3 or 4 guys that are out there giving blood for your brand and traveling around the world to promote you. Yes it is sick to hook up the little guy which we do plenty of. Against the better judgement of some we still do it because some of us see the value I. E. sponsoring taft and jack Borland more than anyone else.
The hook up the core under ground guy is a great idea. But that core under ground kid only reaches a small group of die hards. If you want to reach the kids who aren't on ns everyday you need that nationally broadcasted, feature film , x games guy.
Bro if you keep posting you're going to put yourself outta business. You guys should know that in an industry forum like this, you cannot fuck around. What do you think caused CoreUPT, Dynastar, Siver Cartel, Freeze and FD Wear all to go bankrupt?
Can we now bring attention to on of the most supportive companies? I hear Amplid's skis are of such a high quality that they can only afford to give their riders one pair of previously mounted skis per year. I'm honestly shocked that Amplid's marketing prowess hasn't skyrocketed their company to the top in the U.S.
I totally understand the business and sponsorship aspect of it, I just didn't really get why a brand like saga, who is super supportive of riders and the industry in general, would say something like that just for entertainment
I don't know what your position at Saga is, but if you're just a "Social Media Representative" or something stupid like that, you're doing a shitty job.
This. I've supported saga for the past two seasons, but this kind of behavior is so incredibly unprofessional that I nearly regret my decision to purchase their outerwear. The only thing that makes me feel good about owning it is the quality, as this kind of behavior is inappropriate.
That statement was said from a employee of saga to his friend a member of yoke gang as a joke. Apparently it wasn't received that way and has now been blown out of proportion and taken out of context.
There is a differece between joking and talking shit. "Jerm" Saga's TM, doesn't really joke. He talks shit. We've actually know him for probably longer than you guys and we know his track record of being one of the most notorious shit talkers in the online snowboarding community. It just kinda sucks hearing things like that, joke or not. Don't pick on the little guy...
Ya I mean it's just like you said earlier, your's and Yoke's products barely even overlap. Your main thing is outerwear, yoke sells a couple t-shirts, a couple hoodies and then ugly painter caps. And they things that do overlap are made in a completely different style from one another.
Everyone on here is so quick to jump on a bandwagon that they will pounce on someone over a single quote that for all we know was taken completely out of context. Some people just take things way too seriously.
It was obviously a joke. Whether you think it was in bad taste or not, get over it and go have some fun skiing.
^did you read the thread. It's more than just the comment about yolk that there coming off as. This is Saga showing there true colors, like you'd get in a value meal.
what true colors? one of our employees made a comment in poor taste that was taken too seriously. if you take a second to think about it, what other brands support and promote people like we do? If anything our true colors are that of supporting the hungry am on the come up, look at our team, thats who they have been and are. and like andy said, we gave more prouct to the TAFT than any other sponsor of it. we believe in the support the underground skier but its not the only way to go.
Yes I read the thread, there was nothing that stuck out to me as being out of line or anything. Just a bunch of idiots blowing everything saga says way out of proportion and making it a way bigger deal than it has to be.
Also, coming of as... what? Your post didn't really make any sense. From the value meal comment (Idk if you were trying to be funny or witty or what that really meant), to learning the difference between there, they're and their.
Btw, before any one says it, i'm not some trendwhore saga dickrider. I own one saga vest that I didn't even pay for because my brother gave it to me. Although I am looking into getting a pair of pants because i'm tired of buying new ones every year and have heard nothing but good things about their quality
wont deny that. i get a rise out of a good shit talking. i did not know my comment would be taken so seriously and such a shit storm would ensue. Andy im sorry, saga is not going to put yoke out of business, we have no desire at all to venture into your market, and you guys are already killing it. if i didnt think yoke and the people behind it were sick then why would i hook them up with gear?
Everyone in this thread needs to take a step back and breath.
Ha. Who's taking things too seriously? If you are (^for u, there's always one grammar nazi) going to pawn it off on that one employee.. That's a pretty weak excuse
saga's true colours? do you really believe this company is out to crush small companies like yoke to consolidate it's stranglehold on the independent ski brand market while simultaneously underpaying its athletes so they can become fat cats? get over yourself. Andy Parry made a pretty unprofessional thread, and granted Saga made some unprofessional responses, and this whole thread got out of hand. but that's the beauty of NS. if you want stale, politically correct representations of companies and athletes, go to facebook.
