Back binding broken badly

If you get a heel piece you might be able to re-drill it, but idk man, you may be fucked.

looks like you won't be able to re-drill in the same place. But I'd fill the hole well and fill any cracks that water might be entering and remount your bindings either forward or back depending on where they are now. Because it's a wood core it doesn't actually need to be that far away from the previous holes.

That, or if you really want them mounted in the same spot then get a different binding/heal piece with a different hole pattern. Btw what type of binding only has 3 screws in the heal?? That's kinda silly.

I hate to tell you this but this happened on my old K2's and they only lasted a few months after. You can try to move the binding back and fourth a bit but there just isn't enough meat for the screws to bite into.

I work in a shop and have dealt with this type of situation before. Im sorry to tell you but your kinda fucked... Your only option to fix those skis are to fill the holes with epoxy (get a shop to do it), then re-mount your binding 3-4 cm's back or get a new set of bindings with a completely diffent hole pattern and mount them somewhere at least 2 cm's away from the old holes. DO NOT RE-MOUNT into the same holes the core is gone out of the holes, bad idea... if your really in a pinch you could epoxy the holes then re-drill and mount after its cured. I would not trust that though.

Resurrecting an old thread since suspect am facing the same issue. Must admit am not very clued up on ski tech matters though and don't have a huge amount of faith in my local ski shops, am in rural Ireland, they tend not to face anything too challenging! So any experts out there, your help is appreciated.

I ski Whitedot Preacher 179s with Marker Griffon bindings and worked last season in Kaprun Austria. Literally last run of the season the heel piece sheared off while coming back to resort on a blue. Was damned lucky, had spent all morning off piste on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier....

Anyway, need to decide if these skis/bindings can be repaired and if so how hard I can push them next season. As I hope you can see from the pics there's some evidence of rusting in the screws. Had gouged the bases pretty deep on some rocks a month or two before the binding failure, although I took them to the shop promptly am wondering if some water might have got into the core before the bases were fixed, or if there was some other reason for the failure? If there was water in there, will that compromise the integrity of the skis permanently, or prevent the bindings from being safely remounted?

If I do get them remounted then how far back would I need to ask the shop to go, and how should they treat the cracking you can see on the top sheet?

Sorry if these are daft questions but have adored these skis since I got em, it's probably gonna be Canada for me next season so something reliable in backcountry is a must! Cash is tight but safety paramount....
