I'm wondering if anyone goes there? I'm thinking about sending in an application but dont really know much besides they have my major, its in a cool seeming city and Mt. Hoods close by.


Anyone have anything to say about the place? good or bad

Portland is an odd place, its cool, but stuffed full of ass sniffing douche bag hipsters.

The mountain is like an hour drive, im pretty sure there is some sort of ski bus out of PSU though.

I like the campus, its right in the city. But like any large city, its pretty expensive to live there.

I have heard that there academics are pretty good, but nothing outstanding. There engineering and architecture departments stand out.

My older brother goes there and I am pretty sure he likes it. Portland is an awesome city and Mt. Hood is dope.

Don't go to Portland state. I went to high school right by the campus and it's absolutely a commuter school. Other than being a little over an hour from the mountain and being in a crappy part of downtown portland (this is coming from somebody who loves Portland), there really aren't any huge plusses to going there.

University of Portland has far better academics than PSU, doesn't look like they are in the list above though

And if memory severs they are a private school, so you can never qualify for instate and alway be paying a ton.


Looking for colleges sucks. Trying to find a place around 10k a year and not somewhere shitty seems impossible

Boise State is covered and is a rad town, campus and is like 45 min from Bogus, 2 hours from Sun Valley....and they have a blue field. ooohhh ahhhh!

Southern Oregon is pretty cool. Not that far from mount ashland which is a pretty fun mountain

I go to southern Oregon and love it. Small mtn town about 20 minutes from Mt. Ashland which is a small fun local mtn, I recommend it highly for anyone.

Yeah Portland is not that sick of a college town IMO. Would be tight for after college with work or grad school (OHSU is tight).


If you're really keen on the PNW, scope UW or WWU

What the hope is is I go somewhere that theres more to do on the weekends then get shit face in cow land and instead go hiking, ski, go out to a lake or be in a cool city with concerts and stuff. Its not really asking that much, and you will burn yourself out if your doing school 100% of the time. You need time to go do the stuff you like doing

No I know. But I've been there in the summer and can't say I like the vibe w/out snow. Its hot and feels sad and repressed. I'd also rather live somewhere like the PNW in terms of climate (with trees, forestes, water) then a high desert.

I go there. Its ok. I went to osu and loved it and now i commute from te west side to downtown. If you live on campus it will not feel like a commuter school. I hate the city and would never choose this as my first college. I love oregon but i absolutely hate portland and every jean vest wearing hipster douchebag.

Go somewhere else where the town is dominated by the college. An ashland is cool if you like Shakespeare and pears
