Caffeine addiction

Anyone else ever / is addicted to caffeine? Me pesronally, I think im a little bit addicted. I drink ALOT of coffee and definitely find myself depending on it a few times a day to keep going.

I used to be addicted to caffeine. I couldn't stand it and finally had to get off of it. There was a point in my life where i would fucking FREAK if I couldn't have my morning coffee. I gradually started substituting cocaine in decaf instead of drinking regular coffee. After a couple weeks I had successfully weened myself off of caffeine.

haha classic cocaine substitution. But for real apparently one of my good friends mom think sim just wound up 24/7 now and and buzzed on caffeine all the time. Makes me wonder if im actually having a little problem if people are noticing. I prob drink 4 cups on average a day+- 2

Oh yeah, I withdrew from caffeine. I drink a lot of coffee at work (shift work) to stay awake and alert. But when I go home, it almost stop. I get headache ( I dont get headaches), irritability and night sweats.

I don't know but my mom is addicted. She drinks like 5 cups before work in the morning and then gets one at a coffee shop everyday on the way home.

shit, that's not too bad at all. personally, i usually only drink a mug (travel mug) a day. sometimes two. so between 2 and 4 cups a day I'd say. most of the people in my office drink 2-3 times that amount. i don't ever drink any coffee on weekends though. only at work, so that helps keep the caffeine addiction in check.

I dont understand this whole addiction shit. Ive had caffeine for weeks at a time and then stop whenever i don't feel like I have to get up that early with no problems. Ive smoked tobacco many a time too mostly cigars and i haven't had one in a month or so after doing them much of the summer with no problems. Idk i don't even understand where people get this addiction shit from. Sorry to those who it is actually a real problem though.

I don't think I am addicted to caffeine, but my brain definitely works better after I've had a tea or coffee. Sometimes when I am starting to get a headache ill drink a coke or something and ill feel a lot better.

caffeine addiction takes quite a while to develop in my experience. and you realistically wouldn't develop a nicotine addiction from smoking a cigar...even if every day. you'd have to smoke multiple times a day, repetitively, to develop a nicotine addiction. moderation of any addictive substance can mitigate the damages.

I love it, but ironically enough when I went off the college this semester I drank significantly less, just because of lack of availability. I wouldn't say I'm addicted, but I do drink a cup each morning while I'm home, love the stuff.

those are so good! but yes i have found myself to be addicted to caffeine so i quit drinking soda and mostly only decaf. It definitely has helped in the long run.

I don't find i get addicted to stuff either. When i went travelling last summer i was smoking a pack a day for a month but quit without any problems when i got home. i only ever get cravings after i've been drinking.

Same with coffee, i've had around a month and a half of solid uni work, essays in, lab writeups to complete and the last three weeks have been finals. I've been drinking about 6-7 coffee's a day plus pro plus (caffeine pills) between coffees but i know that as soon as i finish my exams i'll just stop. Although life will be so chill that i won't need the alertness that i can probably only get with caffeine


With addictive substances i find i will binge on them for a month or so and then quit completely, no cold turkey.

Being a med student it's the only thing that keeps me going besides coke.

Do beware of becoming a coffee snob like I did, for some reason cheap coffee now tastes way worse now I know what is possible.

I've never understood why some people are under the impression that drinking black coffee is "manly", and if you drink anything with cream or sugar then you're a "nancy boy". So dumb.

I wouldn't say it has anything to do with manliness but when you take coffee with cream you are diluting the flavour. With sugar, you are ruining the flavour.

I don't know that's like when people mix weed with weird stuff and everyone gets pissed off.

I like my coffee black and my expresso with cream because it's my own personal preference.

Not addicted to coffee but tea and Energy drinks, I can go days without drinking one and then drink either every day a week. So I wouldn't say addicted now, but on the road to maybe.

yes, yes I am. I want to ween myself off, but I love having a cup in the morning and afternoon so much. I guess two cups a day isn't that bad, but i can go up to 4. If I don't have coffee I get headaches, and I always feel like I am crashing at my usual coffee ingestion times.

A handful of years ago National Geographic wrote a good article about caffeine I really enjoyed reading. Part of the article talked about how the side effects from drinking too much caffeine stop you from drinking too much and 'overdosing' or doing any actual damage to your body. You CAN get addicted to it, physically - but more often mentally - but it is very rare for someone to drink so much to do any damage. It's up there with pot and LSD for a risk of an overdose, the effects of the drug overpower you to the point where you body just can't take any more before any damage is done from overdosing.

Also - nicotine causes caffeine to take effect 60% faster. So if you drink a cup of coffee it takes (on average) 20min to effect your body, but if you have a smoke with your coffee that time can be dropped to 6 to 9 minutes.
