Except the variability of the conditions means winning is predicted more by the weather during a given run than the skill of the rider. As we saw, and Russ said, you either had the wind with you or against you.

Im here and the weather is worse then it looks on TV. So bad. The wind was blowing his whole run right up until the last jump. He was compensating for wind that wasn't blowing

I love everyone saying postpone the event. yeah lets just move it to a weekend where there isnt another major competition, oh wait a minute...

the tv time slot, all of the rentals for gear and production, hotels, lining up flights for the athletes, yeah lets just postpone that.


you arent forced to compete, and you have to do the best with the conditions presented, did it suck, hell yes it did, but if they didnt want to risk it then dont ride, simple as that.


Our sport is an outdoor sport, conditions change, sometimes for the worse, which is what makes it interesting, we aren't skiing in some dome where every time its perfect

Sure but it's not like everyone chose the sport on windy or non-windy day, jumping off big jumps. You do what you can and Russ did his best.

Maybe in better condition Woods would have won, but Im glad Russ won at least once in his life. I'm always rooting for Russ because he always got almost to the top.

He didn't win by "default". He finished his run decently, thats saying a lot right there with those conditions. Would it have gotten him first if it were sunny out? No. But its defiantly not winning by default. Give him some credit.

Ski comps should have waiting periods like surfing contests because the conditions for that were absolute shit.
