Skiing with your dad.

Is the greatest thing ever. I'm always so stoked to go rip up some groomers with him every year.
Much to my disappointment, he can't find anyone to work the holidays this year so he has to run everything himself, meaning no skiing with him.
I'm bummed :(

I love skiing with my Dad, he is the one who taught me how to ski and I have spent most of my time skiing with him. He recently tried following me into the park last year and actually hit about a 30 foot jump, the liftie and I watched in awww as he knuckled and then the yard sale was on, still major props for hitting it though, he is like 55.

My dad loves skiing! He reads all my free skier mags before me, shreds pow on armada jj's, comes to all my comps. Its like a best friend. Love ya dad!

My dad isnt too good at it but he loves it. He just got new skis and boots and he hasn't been more stoked on this season than anything ever before. I cant wait to go up with him cause he is just a huge goober and is so care free about everything. Cant wait to ride with him!

My father passed away on the mountain a few years ago after being kicked by a moose so its always great to go out and hit the mountain and remember all the good times.

my dad fucking shreds groomers. i have to sack up to keep up with him sometimes….it's hard to catch up to his 250lb ass hahaha

I love going on some pow tours with the pops, he is a little too slow with to ski with on hot lap days;)

but out in the bc there are not many other people id rather be with.

I love skiing with my Dad! We always shred the steepest, deepest,funnest,most challenging lines on the mountain! Then meet up at the bottom for a round of high fives!

Skied with my dad on Saturday with a some friends and it was awesome. Usually he skis with some of his buddies but they always cut out for coffee like every couple hours but on the weekend he went the whole day. Nice to know he still has it in him.

My dad started shredding Mammoth 60 years ago at a really young age. Needless to say, it's a close race every time we shred a groomer. I usually only win because he LOVES carving. Loves carving so much he hates powder because it slows him down.

It's always a good time when we have to make up stories to ski patrol of why we were going so fast.

I dont mean to be a debbie downer but this thread makes me sad that i'll probably never ski with my dad. I come from a non skiing family and he has always said his balance isnt up to skiing. Im jealous of those who can go out and rip with your parents.
I'm definitely going to take my kids out skiing when i do have children and hope i can still show them a thing or two in the park.

My dad passed away two years ago, but some of my best memories of him are skiing together when we went out to Banff over New Year. Last time I skied with him was doing a full top to bottom at Sunshine, so much fun. I'm gonna have my kids on skis before they can walk haha.

My dad practically taught me how to ski, so when I ski by him backwards and just carve circles around him, it's a form of gratitude I feel. It's crazy how much skiing can be a bond between father and son, even if it doesn't happen all the time.

The last time my pops and I skied at Mt Snow last winter, he actually suffered a small stroke while on the lift and skiing..the dude skied all the way down the mountain, and we refunded his lift ticket, I drove him back to his car an hour away, and he drove two hours to CT! It sucks we didn't catch it earlier, but it's amazing that he only suffered a small one and lived to talk about it. I hope I get to ski with him again this winter, because he has dropped weight and became much healthier.

my dad can shred and when i get the chance i love skiing with him, but after about three runs the old man hits the bar with his ski buddies and then theres no turning back

How old were you when you started if you don't mind my asking? 

I tried it once when I was about 18 and hated it (got "surprised" by a then-gf with a trip to an ice-caked hill on snowlerblades and in gear that didn't fit.  Ended the day cold, wet and in pain.) and didn't even try it again until I was 21, almost 22. 

I wish I had started at a younger age.  All those years- wasted.  GAH!

My dad is such a boss. He has had a huge skiing career his entire life. Such a great skier but I feel as though he's slowing down. I was skiing some steep chutes last winter at Grand Targhee we were dropping this rock type thing it was only about 15-20 feet to the ground my dad hit it for the third time that day. He must have landed wrong because he tore his ACL and had to ski down on one ski. He such a good skier but his knees have been being beat hard every ski season so I guess that one couldn't take it anymore. I'm hoping he is able to get out a bit this winter with me. He loves the freestyle skiing aspect of it though too. He has tried to hit rails but it never really turns out well haha. He rocks jumps pretty good with some twister spreads and such haha. He's awesome though. Actually he has a newschoolers to but doesn't go on often. Love to hear stories about guys skiing with their dads, cool shit.

I must have the only dad that hates when I ski in the terrain park. went with my friend one day skiing and told my dad I did my first 180, he told me he'd snap my skis in half if he figured out. told me I was "asking to break my back and become a paraplegic for the rest of my life".

never again have I told him about the gnarly tricks I enjoy doing undercover.

Rereading/bumping this thread because I will probably never get to ski with my dad again. He's only got about a year left to live, and by the time ski season rolls back around, he'll be lucky to be able to walk.

Cherish what your father's have passed down to you, skiing and otherwise, because you never know when that run you take together will be the last.

I'm so sorry to hear that man. The hardest thing ever to go though is watching our loved ones fading away; you have to hold on to the memories. From one skier to another, I'll keep your family in my prayers.

I used to not like skiing with my dad because all he would do was lap groomers.
I skied with him every chance I got this year though because I forgot how fun it was and how much he could shred

i have literally one friend that is down to drive to VT every weekend so when it's not him i'm skiing with my dad, ever since i was 5. he's taught me everything i know. he shreds hard for 57 & keeps up with me in the woods. one of the best skiers i know

I ride with my dad every Saturday and Sunday.  He just started park about two weeks ago and can spin a 3 when he is on a box.  He rides with tellemark bindings and no poles. Super rad
