i learned underflips before backflips by just hucking it and i was doing it on nothing but ice. try it on a tramp then go for it

Do it on tramp first. Learn flat 3 first, then just do a 180 out.

This. In my opinion, it's almost easier to come around to 5 than stall it out for a 3.

Good tutorial on Flat 3s from a Copper at Woodward coach on youtube.

i apparently define rodeos differently from everyone else. in my eyes, rodeo 5 and underflip is essentially the same thing but everyone else seems to think flats and rodeos are the same

no cause then it's a flat 5... imo rodeos are much more similar to mistys, especially on a trampoline. just think of a rodeo as turning 90, sideflip (bring your chest and knees to the sky) then another 90.

On a tramp think of doing a 180 to your back using your right leg to throw you onto your back (assuming you're doing a left side rodeo) from there just go a little bigger and complete the flip and then you did a rodeo. Wohoo

Depending on how you throw it, it can either be forward or backward. At 1:42 in this video is a rodeo 5, now stop at 1:44...180 to back then completes the flip and brings it to his feet.

This is 100% correct. It is not flipping forward either you basically kick your right let up diagonally to the left while bringing your back parallel to the ground. You should try to get a coach to teach you. Learning it correctly on your own is hard

just watch a video of someone doing a rodeo, then try to imitate it. first learn it on a tramp, then it's pretty much the same onto snow

and flats and rodeos are incredibly close to the same thing...

Drop a shoulder while setting a backflip & presto you'll land switch, depending on how hard & when you set it it will either be an underflip or rodeo 5

My god you kids are so wrong about underflips. And most of you about rodeo and flat. Underflip is not even close to rodeo and flats are very similar to rodeos they just aren't inverted. Underflip is like 90 linclon 90 almost like backflip 180 not even similar at all to rodeo or flat.

yea id say an under flip is closer to a flair than anything else. I do think that cork 7s and flats are actually the same trick in someways though as odd as that sounds. The take offs are almost identical, but in a cork you spin a 360 by the time you reach your apex, where as in a flat it happens mostly after the apex. If you dont believe me go try to do a flat spin while spinning a 3 by the time you get to your apex...you will do a cork

This is how I learnt it. For right side spinners:

Get backflips down and learn to set the flip with your hips.

Then instead of thrusting your hips straight forward, start gradually setting them a bit left of center. This will send you into off axis backflips or flat 3s.

Once you have those down just exaggerate it even more to the left and bring that last 180 around.
It's best to learn that progression on a tramp beforehand. This is also where the difference between a flat/rodeo 5 is negligible.

thank you. im pretty positive it is not an underflip and thats about all i can be positive about.

the way i understood it a rodeo and flatspin are both spins where your body flips or rotates away from the jump, whereas an underflip your body flips toward the jump (almost like a misty but done with a lincoln instead of a front flip.) then the distinction between a rodeo and flat is a rodeo is more flippy and a flat your body is just parallel or flat to the ground the entire time, like a frisbee spinning.
