Got addicted to it over the summer and now im tryna stop

Without going to rehab how should i stop? i tried stopping and after two days without it i gave in and needed it. Will taking two day breaks help me?

absolutely. tales are quite common of people who are able to kick heroin, but never able to quit smoking.

People just don't really want to quit tobacco. I know people want to quit but I mean REALLY want to quit.


If you really wanted to quit smoking you can. You can just decide to stop, and never smoke again.


If they start doing heroin again their life will fall to shit again, if they smoke a cig, big deal they're smoking cig's again. It's just one of those habits that people don't seem to be that worried about.


Like somebody who speeds to work everyday, gets a couple tickets and has to be good to keep their license. Continues to speed. (I know, I know but I enjoy the fact that they related terribly to the conversation at hand)

I mean they still do it but are they really trying that hard to stop?



If you put somebody that's addicted to cig's and somebody who is addicted to heroin on a park bench in the city and said, I'll give you a prize if you don't smoke, or use for the next day or 2. The person would easily be able to give up smoking if they wanted to win that prize. The person with the heroin addiction would say lol, and go bang some more dope.


Yes cigs are very addictive but it's more of a habit. Saying that cigs are more addictive than opiates is a joke.

Heroin is in a whole different dimension of accictiveness than cigs. Heroin addicts will do anything they have to to get their next fix whereas most smokers won't. My brother stole from stores, stole from my parents, stole from me, sold almost everything he had to cope with his addiction. You don't see cig smokers doing that.

lol, um, maybe because they don't have to do "anything" to get a nicotine fix. not exactly hard to come by...it;s not exactly a habit that you have to beg, cheat, and steal to maintain, but that doesn't make it less addictive. it's not uncommon for a smoker to be told that they're going to die of emphysema/lung cancer/whatever, yet they're never able to quit smoking....

As far as addictiveness and cravings nicotine is more addicting but when you take into acount withdrawal Heroin is way worse you cant just quit heroin cold turkey cause you can die same with opiates lke morphine .

Wow, you totally blew my minds and ended the discussion right there.

If people really wanted to quit smoking they could. If cigs weren't a perfectly cool in society, fucked up their lives, kept them from being able to work, maybe they'd stop.

It's more of a habit with cigs. Smoking cigs doesn't take much from you, people simply don't care.

You could list cigs as more addictive because a bunch of people are pussies and can't quit. That doesn't make them more addictive then heroin.

i'm not going to spend crazy amounts of time digging for all kinds of sources, but this isn't just some whacked out idea of mine. while it has been my experience as well, there are also studies that have found the same. there's a few of them cited in the wiki article on Nicotine....yeah, yeah, wiki isn't a "credible" source, but we're not writing term papers here... a quick google search also turned up this article on it as well.

I said nope because I quit. Been over a year. Easy as fuck compared to opiate addiction. People are just pussies.

Also before a bunch of posts about how people can't quit even when they're dying, people don't like to change. People continue all kinds of bad habits till the end, does mean those are all crazy addictive.

Fat people that keep eating shitty food even when they weigh 600 pounds. It could kill them but they keep eating.

My psychology teacher told us that he has dealt with people who have had done meth and smoked and told him they would rather have to quit meth than smoking cigs. It's all opinion and if you really want to quit

i don't know how much I buy in to their findings. It places methadone and buprenorphine well below that of heroin? i mean, they act on the same receptors in the brain hence their use in maintenance treatment. ask anyone who has ever had to kick done or bupe and they will tell you that it's harder than kicking dope. the long half life of each causes prolonged withdrawal whereas dope is done in a week tops.

guess it doesn't really matter though. regardless, dope, coke, speed, nicotine, etc. are all incredibly addictive substances that should be treated with respect (if you're going to dabble)...else you find yourself with a monkey on your back.

Crack Cocaine 2.83

Nicotine 2.83

You are actin like Heroin is 10x harder than nicotine to overcome and that nicotine is so easy to kick. but this has nicotine tied with crack and right behind heroin

I know it's addictive, I was just downplaying it because I feel it's over hyped.

Especially when people were saying it's more addictive than opiates. You can quit cigs and simply not smoke if you want to. You can't just decide to stop using opiates one day and go to work and carry on your normal schedule nbd.

Yeah yeah, I know that point has a lot to do with withdrawal but still. People are pussies when it comes to quiting cigs.I think the problem is more how accepted they are in society.


It's not a big deal for them to keep on smoking, and though expensive they aren't living on the street or sucking dicks to get a pack.


Also for people who've quit other things but can't stop smoking. One of the hardest things to do is to give up that last thing. Whatever it is. You kick all your habits but you need that one to give you that fix in terms of doing something. Even as small as a cig. People hold onto that.


Cig addiction = first world problems. Over hyped to shit.

opiates are by far more addicting than nicotine, (imo, and alot of other peoples) i can go a couple days without smoking cigs, shit i can go a couple weeks if i wanted to, and i wouldnt feel shitty nor would i wd, but i used to not be able to function without opiates, and i couldnt go 24 hours without using. anyone that has ever had an addiction to hardcore opiates such as daluadid, heroin, or oxycontin would know that opiates are by for the most addictive substance.

And as for methadone/ suboxone, the drawls for those are ungodly.  2 weeks of pure agony, worse than any other opiate, and to think they treat opiate addicting with this shit... so i would say that the wd are worse, but since not as many people abuse this drug, that it wouldnt have the background for addiction like heroin or daluadid

OP please help yourself, im assuming you are pretty young and have a full life ahead of urself, get involved and be proactive in your recovery, dont substitute one drug for another, this just releases your addiction all over again, join the narcotics anonymous fellowship sooner rather than later. Its a free program and full of people who will support you and understand where you are at, becuase they can only keep what they have by giving it away. There is no happy ending to addiction, you will eventually be consumed and your best outcomes for life are; jails, institutions or death. If you can get it now, you will be better off, and remember, dont walk out of recovery before the miracle happens becuase if there is one thing that Narcotics Anonymous garuntees is the desire to stop using and finding a new way to live. and yes i am in the fellowship and just got my 30 days and believe me, this is the longest i have been sober in 5 years.

ight word. im trying my best and once i officially get off this, I am taking drugs alot more serious. When i first started i didnt think i'd get addicted but i loved the high i got from snorting. i never needed coke but i just loved doing it. once i started getting seriously addicted i hated it and i completely changed as a person. thanks for the help tho +K to you

I had a solid 4+ years. Pa pack a day, tin a day. Sometimes both. In the summer at shows easily a pack and a half +.

It's not easy, but it's really not that hard. I found chew to be more addictive than cigs and I was deep into that shit. Decided I need to quit because it was bad and quit. People are pussies.

There are some things on there that I find impossible to believe. Ecstasy is barely more harmful than weed, and acid is more harmful (and addictive) than ecstasy? And coke is supposed to be THAT much more harmful than ecstasy? I realize they are probably talking about pure MDMA, but that's not what ecstasy is in this day and age. And I still have a hard time believing acid is worse for you than molly. I feel like this chart almost makes it seem like if you are going to pick a drug to be doing frequently, it should be ecstasy, and that's definitely not true. The study seems flawed in some way

Clean acid is one of the safest drugs you can take, although that doesn't mean it's "safe" because of the possibility of mental breakdowns and such. This isn't so much a result of the drug as the mental state of the user (although if there's one thing I've learned, it's that a psychotic break can happen to even the most experienced users). Pure MDMA is very safe as well, but good luck finding that unless you know somebody who actually produces it themselves. I'd say what you get on the street has a lot of shit in it that is definitely not good for your brain. Regardless, is clean acid really more dangerous than pure MDMA? And more addictive? As far as I've heard, clean forms of both should have virtually no addiction factor, although I would have to imagine MDMA being somewhat more addictive if anything. I really don't know if molly is "worse" than acid, or the other way around. I've read a lot of mixed stuff about MDMA affecting seratonin levels and whatnot (although I've read arguments to the contrary as well), so I would think if one would be deemed more harmful, it would be molly.

As I said though, I don't really know and I feel like everyone has their own opinion about it so it doesn't really matter.

but still, it is by far the most reliable source on this. find another peer reviewed source. also, read the paper itself. it gives insight into how they rank them. it's not just straight forward 'one is worse than the other'

Lold at the heroin turns into morphine in the liver. This is only partially true ad doesnt take into accout all of the inpurities and shit that also mess you up along with the "morphine" which also isnt good for you.
